Listen to the Music/Música/Musique

We knew KoontzRocks, but we didn't know KoontzRocks in, like, 17 different languages! —SparkNotes editors

We all know the feeling: The dreadful clench in your stomach reminding you of an impending foreign language test. You know you have no hope to understand it at all before your teacher slams a thick batch of incomprehensible gibberish on your desk, expecting you to be fluent in a language you’ve been learning off and on for around three years, for about 50 minutes, 180 days a year.

Do not despair my fellow students! There is a cure, a cure that will strike your fancy if you appreciate dancing like a maniac, banging your head, or even fist pumping: foreign music!

French:
Kyo is one of the few French rock bands out there, and they have really catchy lyrics that you can understand easily. "Je Cours" is a personal favorite because I can sing the chorus with a great
accent. And the lead singer is cute.

We love that Sparkler Carocornn is in touch with her inner fangirl and is not afraid to show it! Here's a list of her favorite bands. —SparkNotes editors

5) Flyleaf
Flyleaf is a Christian rock band with inspiring and powerful lyrics belted out by the amazing Lacey Mosley. Their albums are Flyleaf and Memento Mori, which is more recent. Some songs of their best songs are "Sorrow," "Again," and "Tiny Heart."

The Best Revenge Songs

By:Contributor

Sparkler RunningFromLions is angry—and is taking it out on vintage vinyl. —SparkNotes editors

Is it just me, or have there been an insane amount of dating posts on SparkNotes recently?

For those of us with relationship dramas that couldn't be solved by knowledgeable SparkNotes writers, I propose revenge. Musical revenge, of course, because any other revenge-like activity I can think up would likely get me arrested. (Which would mean I wouldn't have to take the APUSH exam. On second thought...)

Here's a revenge playlist I put together that's just begging to be played on repeat in your room, then sent to your horrible ex or former BFF:

The Most Adorable Playlist Ever

By:Contributor

Is there anything Sparkler synchrogirl117 can't write about? —SparkNotes editors

There are some songs that are just plain adorable. They may not actually be good—in fact, some of them might even be considered obnoxious. But when you listen to them, you can't help but want to go hug a flower and bake cookies. This is my list of some of the cutest songs ever:

1. "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows
This song is all about sunshine and happiness and strawberry ice cream and love!  It always cheers me up.

Inappropriate Songs You Know All the Words to

By:Contributor

Sparkler iluvefacetouching recently wrote a post about sketchy Christmas music. But iluvfacetouching reminds us that holiday tunes aren't the only ones that can get a little...raunch-ified. —SparkNotes editors

You’re in your car, playing with the radio, and that one song comes on. Though you try to fight it, you can’t stop from blasting the volume and singing its naughty lyrics at the top of your lungs. Here's my list of inappropriate guilty pleasures:

"My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas

Sketchy Christmas Songs

By:Contributor

This is one of our favorite ideas for a Christmas post this year! Awesome job, iluvfacetouching! —SparkNotes editors

Christmas songs have been playing since, hmm, October. And you have been singing along (admit it!). But, alas, underneath all of that Christmas cheer is dark, dangerous moral decay. Here are some Christmas songs that are more naughty than nice:

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” (Jackson 5 version)
This song involves a secret love affair between two married people. Still, it could almost be romantic, if it weren’t about your mom and Santa. [UPDATE: Misery_Business, you're totally right!!!!!]

Rockin' Around the Christmas Twee

By:Contributor

Sparkler camip0p has become one of the ultimate sources for good music around here, so we were thrilled when she put together this post of fun, new holiday tunes! —SparkNotes editors

Thanks to the wonders of the World Wide Web, I have found cool new alternatives to your average (read: dated) holiday songs. So dump the CD you've been listening to since kindergarten (except maybe Jingle Bell Rock. That's pretty catchy.) and gather all your old iTunes gift cards, 'cause what follows is your modern holiday playlist:

1. The Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs by Various Artists

The Best Christmas Albums

By:Contributor

Sparkler africanstardust knows that a lot of Christmas tunes are yucky in the extreme, so she came up with these great alternatives! —SparkNotes editors

If you’re completely disillusioned with holiday albums, or maybe just with the Trans Siberian Orchestra (I mean, my goodness already), then check out this list of refreshing spins on classic Christmas tunes, and some of the very best Christmas albums from long ago.

1. Snowfall by The Four Freshmen

These guys are pretty jazzy. If you’re not into mellow jazz, this isn’t for you, but if nothing else it makes for good background music.

Revolutionary Songs

By:Contributor

We think Sparkler rebel_of_nowhere's playlist would be perfect for some kind of charitable bake sale. Sure, some grandmas might faint, but the most people will get in the mood for social change (and cookies!). —SparkNotes editors

I believe music is the ultimate medium for spreading ideas. Whether subliminal or obvious, lighthearted or serious, songs contain messages that reflect the problems and events in our society. Here are eight musicians who have used their songs to give the public some eye-opening lyrics:

Green Day: "American Idiot" and "Minority"
Green Day’s songs are invariably catchy and fun, but if you listen closely you will find that they don’t just sing about broken hearts and high school drama. "American Idiot" is one of the best songs about the problems of our nation. "Minority" is kind of like a deeper extension of "American Idiot."

Fall Music Playlist

By:Contributor

Sparkler camip0p may live in Florida, but she certainly knows all about fall (and great music!). Hope you like her playlist as much as we do! —SparkNotes editors

Fall is all about pumpkin pie, comfy sweaters, touches of nostalgia, and changing leaves. (Unless you live in Florida, and the leaves have a better chance of sprouting hair than turning orange, but whatever, Florida, be tropical. Ruin my fun.) Perfect fall music is music that's bittersweet, like jumping into a pile of dead leaves. The following is my fall music playlist:

1. "Junebug" by Robert Francis
If you have an addiction to iTunes free singles, chances are you own this song. It's perfect for a day that's all crisp and autumn-y.
