"One-and-One" an Original Ballad

Sparkler Post

Hello, my most beloved Sparklers and Manklers.

This is my first time publicly sharing a piece of my writing. I wrote a ballad, following the proper rhyme scheme and all (I know it's not perfection, but nothing is). This is inspired and fueled by a true story, and therefore it is dedicated to whom I wrote this about, who is actually rumored to be a splurker!

Enjoy! Also, thanks so much for your support. Xoxo.

"One-and-One" by Glinda_Darling

Once a fated fall day, two young souls first met.

Though their hearts beat not as one,

Their eyes met, and friendly words were exchanged.

From that day on a new love had begun.

He looked at her, his gaze made her blush,

Leaving a smile to spread across his face.

She looked up at him, and then back down,

She let her heart be displayed with grace.

One-and-one makes two,

One-and-one in love makes one.

I’ll be yours if you’ll be mine,

Please stay with me, all through time.

The cold winter winds blew, full of change.

Their fickle hearts led them astray,

He found love and she lived life.

Friends were they, but nothing stays.

The hot summer days fueled Friendship’s flame.

He wanted more, but not from another,

She wanted less, pushing away advances.

Little changed, but they still had each other.

As fall fell again, the two souls fell out.

He became what she never wanted to see,

In return she became as untouchable as could be.

Words bore a poison that left only debris.

One-and-one makes two,

One-and-one in love makes one,

I’ll be yours, if you’ll be mine,

Please stay with me, all through time.

Spring flowers grew from heartbreaks tears.

He helped her back together again,

But she pushed him away with such great force

They both broke down and remembered when…

Warm summer nights spoke of secrets.

He drew her close, happy for whom he had attained,

However she knew him well, and drifted away.

The days moved on, still friendship remained.

The green leaves of summer turned to fall.

He turned and left without a backward glance,

She waited, ever faithful until she finally let him go.

Upon his return, he found her soul free from romance.

One-and-one makes two,

One-and-one in love makes one

I’ll be yours, if you’ll be mine,

Please stay with me, all through time

As summer’s sun once again kissed the land,

He came back into her life, with another girl however.

Her feelings bloomed again, yet she put their friendship first

She whispered one day, friends then, now and forever.

Autumn brought a terminating chill.

He left his girl, and cried for a while,

It pained her deeply to see him that way.

They spoke of long grown feelings; which ended with a smile.

As soft winter snow fell, things shifted at last.

He realized somewhere that she was the one,

She smiled and wished for him forever.

They would walk are-in-arm and talk of whom they had won.

One dark winter day love prevailed.

He asked her to be his, today and always, not to bid adieu.

With this she kissed him, yes, and yes again.

As they sat together, he whispered in her ear, “I love you.”

One-and-one makes two,

One-and-one in love makes one.

I’ll be yours, if you’ll be mine,

Please stay with me, all through time

Time passed, and seasons changed.

They became separated by thousands of miles,

Yet, they waited until the day when she would return.

They always remembered their love through all the trials.

One-and-one makes two,

One-and-one in love makes one.

I’ll be yours, if you’ll be mine,

Please stay with me all through time.
