There's a lot to like and and even a little to love regarding this year's Grammy nominations. We're going to take a look at a few of our favorite stories with a little game we're going to call: "Like, Like, LOVE." It's similar to "Duck, Duck, Goose" except you won't be forced to touch the disgusting, unwashed SCALPS of all your classmates.
Get your act together, adults who come up with children's games!
Like: Ed Sheeran's Best New Artist nomination.
Like: Lorde's "Royals" Song of the Year nomination.
LOVE: Sara Bareilles' Album of the Year nomination for "The Blessed Unrest."
When Bareilles found out about her nomination, the talented singer-songwriter said she "proceeded to scream into the phone for about 20 minutes" and described herself as being "over the moon" regarding the nomination. This is what we're looking for in a Grammy Award winner! And good music too, I suppose.
Bareilles' nomination is like a nomination for all underdogs. A win for her would be like a Grammy for all of us, and until the Grammys add a "Most consecutive days wearing pajama pants" category, Bareilles is the best shot we have at winning.
While "The Blessed Unrest" is a deserving nominee, we understand the realities. If any female singer-songwriter captures the Album of the Year award, it will most likely be Taylor Swift. Listen, we adore Taylor Swift. Her youthful, energetic tunes and tongue-in-cheek romantic foibles are endearing, but Swift needs another Grammy like I need another peanut butter sandwich. And guess what, I'M ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS.
Swift's award show dominance is so prodigious that the Internet needs a separate Wikipedia page to list her bevy of (deserved) musical accomplishments. Sara Bareilles or bust for Album of the Year.
The Grammy Awards will air on CBS January 26th, 2014 at 8 p.m. EST. You can view the entire list of nominees on the official Grammy Awards website.
Who will you be rooting for on Grammy night?
