So we've noticed some people reeeeeeally, reeeeeeally like to be the first to comment on a blog post. We know where they're coming from. There's just something about being the first to make your mark that reminds us of the rush we got when we won gold in the '92 Olympics with the Jamaican bobsled team—the wind in your face, the race for the finish line, the awe of the crowd. You are king of the hill.
We also love being first to:
- Use a new bathroom (because if you use a toilet after someone else, for all intents and purposes, you've touched butts)
- Walk on fresh snow
- Get in the bagel line at school
- Turn in a test (usually followed by breaking out in a cold sweat caused by the fear that we missed a section and that's why we finished before everyone else)
- Discover a new band
- Say "jinx personal"
- Spot a parking space
- Walk on Mars (it's coming, Sparklers)
- Arrive at the movie theater (pick of seats!)
- Write on a freshly cleaned chalk or dry erase board
- Check out a book at the library
- Carve our name in a tree
- Yell "Bingo!"
- Be picked at kickball (we admit this has never happened to us, but it would be cool)
Who will be first to comment?
