Lil' LOST

Lil' LOST

By Dan_Bergstein

This week's episode of LOST was kind of a downer. It was also a bit slow for our tastes. Still, the introduction of Sayid as a boy and the reappearance of young Benny Linus got us thinking of a possible spinoff show. We'd like to take this opportunity to pitch our idea directly to ABC.

Title: Lil' LOST

Summary: Characters from the hit show LOST appear as cute, adventurous kids in this animated, half-hour children's show. Think Muppet Babies or Baby Looney Tunes.

The Island: The Gang lives in elaborate tree forts and rides polar bears to get from place to place. (Polar bears are quite friendly on Lil' LOST.)

Lil' Ben: He's the main villain of the show, and each week he attempts to steal treasure or gain control of the Island.

The Smoke Monster: On the real show, Smokey is a bit too scary and ambiguous for young children to understand. On the cartoon, the smoke monster is a rain cloud with a face and lightening bolt teeth. He usually wears a collar and leash, and Lil' Ben leads him around like a pet. He talks in a low-pitched, simple-minded voice. (Think Lennie from Of Mice and Men.)

Jacob: Jacob is a wizard who gives Lil' Jack cryptic advice at the beginning of each episode. By the end of the episode, this advice will become perfectly clear, and will usually save the day.

Lil' Jack: He's the leader, and plays guitar.

Lil' Hurley: On Lil' LOST, Lil' Hurley says a funny catchphrase whenever there's trouble. Possible catchphrases include:

"Cheese and crackers!"

"Ain't that a kick in the pants!"

"Sweet Aunt Petunia!"

"Great Sappy Pappy!"

Lil' Sun and Lil' Jin: At some point in each episode, these two characters will teach the audience a Korean word or phrase.

Lil' Locke: Even though Lil' Locke is no more than 5 years old, he's still bald. When the gang gets in trouble, he drinks a can of Dharma Juice and suddenly gains the ability to jump great lengths.

Lil' Sawyer: This little guy loves to complain. He's usually cranky and slightly rude to the other members of The Gang, especially Jack…but deep down inside, Lil' Swayer knows that Lil' Jack is his best friend.

Lil' Kate: On the real show, Kate is annoying and boring. We fix all this on the cartoon by giving Lil' Kate a talking horse and magic purse that grants wishes.

Lil' Sayid: He's good at building forts. The athletic member of The Gang, he's never without his trusty surfboard.

Lil' Juliet: She's the animal expert of The Gang and really good at tying knots. She's also a bit of a know-it-all and bookworm.

Lil' Faraday: He never says a word, but he's clearly super intelligent. In one episode, he will build the new character Tockers, a time-traveling clock-man. (Tockers, of course, will have the mannerisms of a kind old man and the accent of a German.)

Plot arcs: Each episode is basically the same: Lil' Ben tries to steal treasure, and one member of The Gang tries to stop him and fails. It's only when The Gang unites that they can defeat Lil' Ben, thus learning the virtue of teamwork. A few episodes also teach children about recycling.

How they got to The Island: Plane crashes are far too tragic for a kid's show. Instead, The Gang all landed on The Island after getting swept up in a whirlwind during a hang-gliding field trip. This backstory is explained in...

The catchy theme song:

Here are the lyrics we've written so far:

Up in the sky

The Gang's flying high

On a field trip in Thailand

Out of the blue

A whirlwind or two

Sends them soaring to The Island.

Ben tries to steal

He turns the big wheel

He doesn't mind the cost!

You looked around

And you finally found

You're a little lost!

(DRUM BREAK DOWN)

You're a little lost!

Lil' Lost!

(After the last note of the song, Lil' Hurley shouts, "Cheese and crackers!")

There you have it. We'll be waiting for your call, ABC.
