Celebs Get Choked Up for Prez-elect, Barack Obama   Nov 5, 2008

Unless you were under a rock in Timbuktu (even they have the internet) last night, by now you know who America’s 44th president will be: Barack Obama. So many people came out to listen to his acceptance speech at Chicago’s Grant Park, you’ll be forgiven for thinking it was the Super Bowl. Add to that the attendance of Obama’s many celeb supporters, including Oprah (need we say more?), Brad Pitt, Kanye West, and Usher. Here’s what they had to say about the other “Big-O’s” big win:

Oprah: “There are not even words to talk about what this night means. It’s one of the greatest moments I could ever imagine. That’s how great it is.”

Madonna: “I’m so f—ing happy right now”

Lindsay Lohan: “YES WE CAN.”

Samantha Ronson: “YES WE DID!!”

Kanye West: “HI MOM, OBAMA WON!” (His mom passed away about a year ago.)

Usher: “Isn’t this incredible news? Man, this is incredible. It’s so incredible to see that this historical thing has happened.”

So we realize these aren’t the exhilerating statements we’re used to from our fav celeb’s. But can you imagine how much emotion and excitement was in that park last night?

What did you say when you found out Barack Obama will be prez #44?

Obama is awsome… i am so glad that obama won.. i think he is so commited in changing this country… i think he could feel how our pain and how bored we are with the situations in america, and as a president he is willing to change that.. more happy news than bad news. and i am happy and excited about how he is going to run our country.. Congratulation obama 08′!

Obama is ridiculous.
It’s not neccesarily his views and plans for new policies that scare me, its that hes planning these things when his vice president has more experience then him! Even Sarah Palin has more experience!
So before he goes talking big he should make sure he knows what hes talking about first.

First thing that came to mind when I found out Obama won was “Wow”.

This is really historical! He is going to be the first African-American President. Hopefully this will reduce racism against other African-Americans (Possibly even against other races). Then here comes this really awesome feeling of hope. I know that no one knows what the future holds, and everyone has different opinions, but would it be wrong to just be optimistic and believe in the good that he wants for his country?

[7] Posted by: FraiseParfait | November 7th, 2008 at 9:11 am

yeah who cares!!!!! i see no historical change what just because his black wow!!!!!!!his part muslim too and if we all die because he wants his people to feel free to come to the U.S. then its all your fault (the people who voted for him)!!!!!!so until obama does something good for the country then that will be an historical change!!!!!!

I’m so glad to see people with sence here

Sure Obama IS a great speaker,
Sure it IS great that he will be a black president,
!!!!!!
BUT
!!!!!!
HIS POLICIES ARE TRASH

The president of the USA isn’t something we just give away because he is ‘cool’

[9] Posted by: EastenNinja | November 18th, 2008 at 1:19 am

why are you all so ANGRY??? omg this is a life changing experience and for ya’ll 2 say such mean things shows how stuck u are n the mentality that we as people have tried to brush off since the days of Jim Crow. if he didn’t have enough experience, the ppl wouldn’t've voted for him. if he wasn’t tryin 2 do something good, the people wouldn’t've voted fro him. If he didin’t know what he was talkin abut, yet again I must stress The PPL WOULDN”T”VE VOTED 4 HIM!! Please stop looking at race n actually look at what he’s sayin n tryin 2 do 4 our country.

[10] Posted by: Shellyn09 | November 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” that is exactly what I said.

[11] Posted by: bobshankar | November 18th, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Obama throws around the word change often, but merely repeating this cliche statement over and over again does not mean anything. Does he ever talk about a non-interventionist foreign policy, or sound money, or attacking the military-industrial complex, bringing the troops home, balancing the budget? No, in fact he is for increasing the amount of troops in Afghanistan and his fiscal plans support large corporations. So you really have to ask yourself if you voted for Obama did you do it for true change or so you could be part of a generation to have the first black president. If you did vote for him for the latter reason you in fact are merely patronizing the African Race. Oh, and to those that try to validate Sarah Palin and John McCain in any way shape or form are insane. John McCain stated and stands by his statement to stay in Iraq for 100 hundred years if necessary. Sarah Palin is laughable when questioned on what the V.P. does she gave a completely incorrect answer stating that (I’m paraphrasing) she would help reform congress. So I guess hooray for Change the voters yet again did a great job….

[12] Posted by: RonPaulHope | November 18th, 2008 at 9:30 pm

Many people voted for Obama because they wanted change, however they never really looked into what exactly they wanted to change in the first place. Do you really think that every thing’s going to be all fine and dandy now that’s he’s president? Did you really think that all the economical problems America has been having lately was purely the fault of Bush and the republican party? News flash, our president doesn’t have that much power to begin with, it’s how our government is set up. I worry for the next four years, I really do, but at the same time I feel he can’t afford to screw up.

And to the person above me referring to Palin’s interview, I advise you actually take the time to do some research before believing any of the garbage the media puts out.

I so agree with some of the other comments sure this is history and all and I applaud that however. There is a lot more than applealing to the public and hollywood for that matter than just good looks and eloquence. He talks a good talk but can he walk a good wlk which I’m affraid he cant the next four years shall definetly be interesting. Crossing my fingers that it will be a good interesting.

I was hoping for McCain. Big bummer. Well, i can only hope for the best. I just wish people learned how to properly pick a candidate. They just say Obama’s looks and they liked how he is a good speaker.

[19] Posted by: RonPaulHope | November 19th, 2008 at 9:20 pm

i would like to quickly point out the irony in the statements posted under me. a majority of the people who criticized President-elect Barack Obama have said that his policies and political platform is to be laughed at.However they do not state how they themselves would fix the issues America faces and they cannot put foward a canadite who ran in the presidential election that would’ve been better for the country. The greatest presidents in history have had extreme criticism before and after being in office and even while they were still in office.Lincoln was hated by many in the south and north, the south had even seceded from the Union. Many disliked Clinton and thought he was crazy when he put one of his election offices in Harlem and many didnt like him after the Monica scandal.this isnt the first the a president has been criticized.and with time the criticizms of Obama will blow over.

[20] Posted by: kikz2thahead | November 19th, 2008 at 9:58 pm

and he won.stop questioning the sanity of your fellow Americans and sounding like condesending idiots.so many people belive their ideas and views are better than others.he won.he wouldnt have won if he was such an inexperienced muslim terroist some of you ignorant baffling idiots are saying.

[21] Posted by: kikz2thahead | November 19th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

im sorry but i have a tendency to question a populace that reelected Bush…

[22] Posted by: RonPaulHope | November 19th, 2008 at 10:13 pm

Bush was simply reelected, because we were in war. and historicallly despite how popular the president is, America has been known to not change leaders during a war unless, the second term is up

[23] Posted by: kikz2thahead | November 19th, 2008 at 10:39 pm

i do not completely agree with that statement. As neo-cons are quick to remind us, in defense of McCain’s “100 years in Iraq” quote, the war in Korea technically never ended, which is why we still have troops and a DMZ over there.
And there have been a lot of 1-term Presidents since the Korean War started. Ford, Carter and Bush 40 come to mind.

But regardless of that information, and solely considering that during W’s first term he in acted the patriot act which has made a mockery of the constitution, and made it so that at any time the government can seize you or any of your belongings without having to tell you the reason as to why and detain you as long as they see fit. So this is why I question the sanity of my fellow Americans.

however, i liked obama quite a bit less.

i’m sure we’ll be fine.

Obama is nothing but a socialist! It is NOT an issue over the color of his skin. It is what he stands for.

i mean what do you think?

[29] Posted by: timothy4455 | November 21st, 2008 at 10:55 am

i think that he is a horrible choice for president. yes i am far right but thats not y i think so. his ideas of raising taxes on big business’s. all that will do is drive them from coming into this country or force them out of this country. and he voted for born alive infants. which is if a woman has an abortion and the baby is alive then they are aloud to kill it. im pro life and thats not pro choice thats pro death.

[30] Posted by: sparky2558 | November 22nd, 2008 at 9:19 pm

okay personally i think that polotics are so over rated there poloticians and they are paid to say what they think that people want to hear. obama does have some pretty good ideas but half of them might not even happen because they still have to go through congress and be voted on

[31] Posted by: freakofnature101 | November 23rd, 2008 at 12:35 am

Many of these “Obama-bashers” are just jealous because McCain didn’t win…Just suck it up and face reality. Obama is going to be an awesome president whether you like it or not.

[32] Posted by: nikkib310 | November 23rd, 2008 at 4:59 pm

Actually, many of the “Obama-bashers” are not “just jealous”, they are worried because someone they see as unfit to lead the country will be doing just that. You would feel the same way if McCain won. And people didn’t vote for McCain because they’re racist. It’s those who claim that voting for McCain is racist that are the cause of the perpetuated racial divide in this country. Heaven forbid we like a candidate for his policies!
Yes, we are stuck with Obama for the next four years, and quiet frankly, I would love to be proved wrong and have his policies actually help the country. I just don’t believed that government sanctioned murder, socialism, and heavy taxes are the way to fix this country.

[33] Posted by: Veritey | November 23rd, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Actually, i like him i like his view. And America need a new blood aand a new policies.

And the future is unclear . We just hope the best

[34] Posted by: Lemonees | November 24th, 2008 at 5:15 am

i mean can anyone that supported Obama tell me which polices they support and specific reasons for supporting them?

[35] Posted by: RonPaulHope | November 24th, 2008 at 4:42 pm

even McCain supporters for that matter…

[36] Posted by: RonPaulHope | November 24th, 2008 at 4:46 pm

One proof of liberal media bias and the reason why we, whose life is dominated for the most part by the media, all fawn over Obama like we depend on him for life:

Everyone celebrates that we have a black President. It’s great that the country’s come this far. Really, it is. But ever heard of Clarence Thomas? Colin Powell? Condoleezzaa Rice? Black. Oh yeah, and conservative.

There’s your sign.

[37] Posted by: muggle303 | November 24th, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Personally, I like that Obama wants to try to alleviate a lot of the tax burden off of the middle class. By the way, the person who posted under me should pay close attention to what I’m about to say. All of that stuff you said about how people claim voting for McCain are racist is a load of crap. Just because I’m an Obama supporter doesn’t mean I don’t like McCain. I certainly respect him as a person and the time he served and suffered for the well being of our country. He’s clearly a very intelligent man or else almost half of the country wouldn’t have voted for him. I know plenty of minorities who supported McCain. Does that mean that they are racist? That really does not make a lot of sense. Just because a candidate is older does not mean that they are qualified for position. In retrospect, just because a candidate is younger does not mean that that person is unqualified, either. As for Obama’s “heavy taxes”, he wants to lower taxes for over 90% of Americans. I don’t think the superwealthy population of our country are going to be wanting for anything because they have to pay a little more in taxes. Chances are, they won’t miss the money anyway! Also, how can you say that Obama is socialist when now, the government is using our tax dollars to fund programs that aid other people. Is that not “spreading the wealth around”? Maybe I just don’t know, but that’s what it seems like to me. Either way, our tax money is going to be used for government funding, so wouldn’t you rather it be used in programs that are useful and it be spent by a president who tries to eliminate unneccessary expenses? I would.

[38] Posted by: nikkib310 | November 24th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

Oh, crap. Another 4 years of hell.

[39] Posted by: mago32s | November 25th, 2008 at 2:19 pm

Honestly I think that the election of Obama is one of the worst things that could have ever happen to the United States. I think he persuaded the U.S into electing him so he could have the title of the first African American President. Now that he is I dont think hes going to do half the things he says hes going to do. But because hes different everyone voted for him. I’m not racist but Obama being in the president is a bad choice on Americas Part. Hes friends with one of the few American Terroists and if im not mistaken thats not a good quality of a president. But it’s Obama so I guess it’s ok I guess.

its amazing how someone with ties to terroists can get elected and no one even knows if this guy is a natural born american citizen my goodness william aires rev wright father flager wake up and look who this man associates with

[42] Posted by: Bradisok2 | November 25th, 2008 at 7:25 pm

People really need to stop throwing around the word socialist without knowing what a socialist is. A socialist is someone who believes that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed evenly. Obama is accused of being a socialist because he wants to increase the income tax for the upper-class by 2%. You can clearly see that this does not make Obama any more socialist than McCain who planed to keep the current Bush tax cuts. O and please stop calling Obama a terrorist it makes you sound stupid…

but why no response to his terrorist ties i mean there is no refudiating that

yeah, i’m glad obama won

[46] Posted by: Sweeney6067 | November 28th, 2008 at 9:44 pm

First to address Obama’s ties to Ayers, which are loose at best. Ayers served on two nonprofit boards with Obama. Both Ayers and his wife hosted a gathering at their home in 1995, where Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her chosen successor in the Illinois State Senate. Investigations by the New York Times, CNN, and other news organizations concluded that Obama does not have a close relationship with Ayers. Sean Hannity originated the ludicrous idea that Obama was a close friend of Ayers and even alluded to Obama having a connection in the days of rage even though he was eight when they were going on. Also I hope you come to realize that out current war on “terror” is no more then a war on the rights of the American people as well as an excuse for empire building. I have not watched the Manchurian Candidate but will do so, but i also urge you to watch Zietgiest its a here is a uplink

Dumb. They cry because he is black. They don’t even pay attention to what he stands for. If you asked one of his biggest supporters, Oprah, she wouldn’t even be able to tell you I bet. She supports him because and only because he is black. He won because he is black. And he is not even all the way black. His middle name is is Hussein! Does anybody see that a little freaky!! He was truely the best of the worst. So don’t be racist. There were better canidates but he stood out.. Because of the color of his skin, not his political stance. That is a discrace America. Don’t look only skin deep, look deeper! However I can be against his ideas all I want.. But he is the President of the United States of America and I respect him so much. Congratulations on winning and you are cool because you can make celeberties cry, but it’s for the wrong reasons Obama. Oh. Ron Paul is a total shmoe! He has no idea what this country stands in need of. Dakota Fanning could do a better job at running this country : )

[48] Posted by: MissMontana | December 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am

What facts do you base your statement that Dr. Paul is a “total shmoe” on? Is it that he opposes our fiat money system and the Federal Reserve and realizes that an increase in taxes is not the cure to our current economic plight, but instead getting rid of inflation which is just an invisible tax on Americans? Or, perhaps its that he never supported the Iraq conflict and realized that the Iraqi military was no threat to the United States. You probably hated how he recognized that a cause of the war was oil interests as well as being in Israel’s best interest to have Saddam Hussein out of power. I can understand how you could dislike his plans to restore our freedoms and respect our countries constitution by abolishing the patriot act. You probably can’t stand how he realizes both corporate medicine and socialized medicine won’t and haven’t worked, and how he continued to explain the simple solution to these flawed systems with the medical savings accounts. Actually after looking at everything that I have just written your absolutely right he is clearly out of touch with the want’s and needs of the American people. All this time I should of been supporting Rudy Giuliani who’s every other word was or a reference to 9/11, or maybe i should have supported Hillary Clinton who plans to fix health care with socialized medicine further expanding government power and won’t take a position on the war in Iraq. Oh, and nice observation with Obama’s middle name having Muslim origins, that clearly means he is an undercover terrorist waiting to get into office to unleash his master scheme. You are really just an amazing source of information thanks for opening my eyes. : )

[49] Posted by: RonPaulHope | December 7th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

I’m so psyched about Senator Obama entering the White House. America has suffered enough for 8 long years, and it’s about time we see a change in our form of government. McCain would just continue doing what Bush did, (DUH. He himself admitted that he always supported Bush so you’d be stupid to aruge with me about that) and we don’t need anymore ignorant politicians in our country screwing things up for us.

Uh..Muslim isn’t a religion, a Muslim is someone that practices Islam. However, I agree with your general statement, that it is moronic for someone to say that he is part Muslim. Someone is either Muslim or not their is no real half way it’s the same concept as saying, oh I’m half Jewish

…you cannot deny that he is a better choice than Bush.

[56] Posted by: darkchocolate224 | December 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm

PS: Dear MissMontana: ….so, his parents choice of naming him makes him a bad president? I would love to hear you critique his issues instead of things he has no control over. Like being black. Thank you.

[57] Posted by: darkchocolate224 | December 15th, 2008 at 9:53 pm

Yea, I’d like to see you all say that Obama is the best! Right after we get attacked by terrorists- again. He said he wants the troops out in 12 months…. they will wait 12 months and we will have another attack like 9/11!!! Terrorists aren’t THAT dumb! Obviously Obama is. I am excited that we have a black president but we will have another Great Depression with all the taxes plus the cost of oils, food, etc. Our country will be screwed by 2012. Hopefully Sarah Palin will run! I hope to see and election againest Hilary Clinton (blah) and Sarah Palin!! That would be awesome!!!!

[59] Posted by: xLaughOutLoudx | December 16th, 2008 at 7:34 pm

CHANGE!

Cause that’s the only thing we can do when Obama is president.

[60] Posted by: xLaughOutLoudx | December 16th, 2008 at 7:36 pm

The only reason he was elected was because he was black. People think that Republicans are racist because we want McCain. I honestly supported Bush in the Iraq war but for nothing else. We were just trying to help their government. Trust me I know this stuff because my Dad went to Iraq for 6 months and he met Bush. I know just about everything on the Iraq war. Most Americans don’t. They just assume what they read online. Our country is screwed! Yay!!!

[61] Posted by: xLaughOutLoudx | December 16th, 2008 at 7:41 pm

It kinda makes me mad that Barack Obama was voted in purely because most of the people voting for him wanted to “make history”, or “for change”. The change quote i think there will be but did they mean change because of color? I think that’s what 50 % of the people believed that when they saw the change quote. And believe me, I have nothing against Obama, just the ways he was elected in. I am not a racist I am all for the minority and their rights.

[62] Posted by: Deano_Guy446 | December 16th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

i hate how everyone thinks that only black people are victims of racism. in MY experience (i am Italian and french, white) and this girl HATED me because i was white. she told me that she was going to be that white girl up(me). i was a grade younger than her and i never did anything to her. she had a “posy” and they all hated me except one girl who told me she always picked on a little white girl (she joked). my best friend was black and she didn’t have a problem with her. she also didn’t like my other white friend. (8th grade)

two years before a girl pinched me(6th grade) and i asked her what was that for and she said “what you did to me in 1967″. umm… i wasn’t alive at that time. so i pinched her, she asked me what that was for and i said “you just pinched me” and she told the teacher and I got into trobble!!

a week ago i was sitting at my table with my lunch. these two boys came and sat down (one was i knew from wood shop). i took my purse off the table to see if my mom texted me back(i wanted to pick me up because i almost got an office referal for my cloths) and the boy told me “little girl we don’t steal.

when i was four a 10year old boy tried to beat me up because i was white.

i also hate how evreyone thinks i’ve always been rich! when i was seven i shared a room with my 2little baby sisters and my little brothers….one room. i’m not saying i’m poverty but i haven’t been living on crack. now obamma wants to tax half my money. i have 8 people in my family!he doesn’t take that into account. also HE is sending his daughters to a private school that costs $30,000 a semester(or year). he is telling ME not to be selfish!!!!

this whole thing is getting under my skin. i think electing obamamaha was the worst thing that could ever happen. first the american people bought in to the crap about spreading the wealth.
if you are a bussiness owner and you start getting taxed to death are you going to pay those taxes. no you will not. you will raise the price of your product or service to cover the tax. how does that help poor america?
secondly, in the world of terror talk is a sign of weakness. no matter how you liberals may wish things would work there is a real world out there that does not think like us or have our values. these people must be held back with force.
thirdly, hussen obamaha started hurting the economy before he was even elected. if you had several million invested and the leader in the presidental race said he was going to raise taxes would you get your money now or wait to have the crap taxed out of you. everybody hates the rich man only because they’re not rich. who do you think we work for? most of us are indians and we do the chief’s bidding. if we were all chief’s who would get the work done?
fourth, he is strongly anti gun. many people are these days. this is because more and more people live in cities and don’t have any possitive experience with firearms. guns are lots of fun to shoot and it takes skill to shoot well. guns can provide food for the table and hopefully it never happens to any of you but guns can provide protection from bad persons. you have nothing to fear from the law abiding person with a firearm.
fifth, i don’t give a damn what color a man or woman is. i want a president that upholds my values and morals. obamaha does not.
sixth, he believes in killing healthy babies that have already been born!!!!! i do not believe in abortion unless it is to save the life of the mother or if it is known that the child will be severely handicapped.
seventh, i don’t think oboma has any idea of how to fix the economy or how to keep america safe. yes the economy is bad. can you tell us why? we are fighting two wars and that cost money. we have been here before and this will not be the last time. if you are paying attention you will realize the world is about to blow into a full scale war. we are not and obama will not bring piece. we may want piece but if someone want to hit you on the nose then your not wanting them to will not stop you from getting hit, only by taking action can you aviod getting hit.
just some food for thought.

I don’t see any of you people criticizing Obama offering up any solutions. Also, if you think that most people are dumb enough to vote for a candidate solely for his skin color, then you need to get your head examined. Even if you don’t support Obama’s victory, the least you could do is appreciate the history that is being made and what a milestone it is to minorities.

i think he will be great for this shot dead beat country we NEED BIG CHANGES hes perfect And some of you people dont like him cuz hes black

i have said in my above post that the color of skin does not decide if a man or woman is capable. The mind of a man is the deciding factor. A lot of what a man is was dictated to him by his social contacts and enviroment. Example, Obama is strong anti gun. His views on gun ownership would be turned 180 degrees if he had grow up with my friends and I. Again, as i posted above that i do not like Obama or support him not because of skin color but because he does not represent me. Obama does not have the values or morals I want as my president. Obama so strongly supports partial birth abortion that as senator he stopped the passage of several bills that would have stopped this terrible sin. Obama has never voted in support of gun owners. I hope the next president puts a nation wide ban on golf and tennis. To be honest i didn’t want McCain either, but between the two I did give my vote to McCain. I truly do hope that I’m wrong about Obama as I only want the very best for my country, but I am truly afraid that if Obama stays on course and lives up to his promises then we are going to suffer. BUT, have you noticed that he has already started changing his stances on some issues? i believed he is now getting info he did not have when he started making promises. Remember everything he said to get the votes but watch what he does as he learns more about how thing work all over the world. i hope some day to see us have a president that will wear a flag pin or say the pledge. America and he rpeople deserve a patriotic president.

First off the celebrities could matter less to anything that occurs in real life. They do not live real lives out in Hollywood, so to hell with their weigh ins on politics. I think it is somewhat destructive that he was elected. Everyone feels that America has come so far and a corner has been turned and it’s no where but UP for now on, but that is just unrealistic. Our problems run WAY deeper and farther than most people can imagine. Obama will not change this country in 4 years maybe not even 8, because the REAL owners don’t want any change. I am glad he won over McCain, but I wanted Ron Paul in there over everyone else. The whole race issue is just ignorant. I don’t care if he is black, white, Asian, Arabic, or Marvin the martian as long as he makes the right decisions then he is fine. Instead of asking what is Obama going to do, we should be TELLING Obama what to do. The govt is the tool of the people, not the other way around.

Obviously it would be unrealistic for us to expect Obama to completely change the country in one or two terms. He knows that he cannot do that. What he wants to do is take the first steps in the right direction towards improving the country for the better so that future presidents can continue the positive cycle. Also, just because someone changes their position on an isssue due to receiving more information does not make them a shady person. I’d like to think that most people would consider trying to make the best decisions possible a good attribute…

[71] Posted by: nikkib310 | December 31st, 2008 at 11:19 am

For the people that say people never looked into what Obama was hoping to do and voted for him anyway, its just like if you voted for McCain. If you voted for McCain and didn’t find out what he wanted to do then thats just as bad. I honestly do not see why people are so upset about Obama winning. He is planning on finding alternate energy besides using oil. Once we run out of oil, theres NOTHING else to use and you are stuck without ANY energy to power all out cities, but if you have a plan B, like alternate energy, then if we do run out of oil then there we go. He also supports pro-choice and does not support Prop. 8, which is good. If we let the government decide what and what not we are allowed to do with our bodies and who we can and can’t marry, that is way too much power for them. We should have the right to marry who we want to marry, even if it is of the same sex or to choose if we want an abortion or not.

Wow. Some people are really close-minded. I do have to say that my family was wholly against John McCain: 1) he’s a Republican and my fam is Democrat through and through; 2) he’s old, but of course anybody can die anyday so that argument was a little…old.

The main reason I was happy Obama won was because my grandparents never thought they would live to see this day. I had to shut some girl down in English after election day because she said something smart. If McCain was elected would her grandparents be like: WOOOO, never seen a white person as president before…

[73] Posted by: taylorcle | January 1st, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Alright…this is how i feel…Obama is a right choice for this country because this country didn’t need another republican president again for another 4 years. Although Mccain isn’t Bush and I can’t say he would have done exactly what Bush would have done, they have the same views.
And this whole thing about his race and he’s muslim and end of the world yadda yadda yadda…shut up…who cares? I just really wish people would wait until he gets into office and messes up (if he does mess up) before saying how “horrible of a president he is gonna be.”

[74] Posted by: crzystar9113 | January 2nd, 2009 at 11:06 pm

lets pray for the country. this is ridiculous. He is like the new “high school musical” craze. people just like him because they KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIM. hello people, he wasn’t even born in the US. (a requirement to be prez. according to the constitution) they hid his birth certificate so that people wouldn’t find out. I think its great that hes black, but honestly, i thought the country was past that. who cares? People were voting for him just cuz hes black, thats almost racist, just the same as voting for mccain because hes white and not black. but yes, bush gave the rep. party a bad rap. but have we forgotten that there is more to a person then their political affiliation? and lets not forget the media, who helped Obama win. They lOVE him. if you watch the news and even have the smallest amount of common sense, you can see they all want him to win, so they gave him the good rep. and mccain and palin the bad one. i hope that we can call him a great president someday in the future… but for now i have my doubts.

[75] Posted by: goGATORS08 | January 4th, 2009 at 8:59 pm

Oh my goodness would you sarah-palin-john-mccain-over-obsessive-freaks get over yourselves. If he wasn’t born in the U.S. they would have had Hillary run for the democrats. SERIOUSLY, STOP COMPLAINING. If you voted for mccain, stop it you whiney babies. People weren’t brain dead when they went to listen to Obama speak, they felt they shared the same views that he does for our country so that’s why they voted for him. And more people wanted Obama, there’s no way avoiding that. A democracy means people choosing their leader for their own good. Of course there are air heads who just went to vote for Obama just because he’s black(I don’t believe in ‘politically correct’), but what if mccain got all the educated people on his side? Then the ignorant people wouldn’t have mattered.
If you ARE 18 or above, and you DIDN’T vote, and you ARE complaining,
well, someone should slap you silly.
I remember complaining about Bush winning the last election, but then I look back and I don’t even care anymore because what could I do? I have absolutely no voice until I am officialy an adult, so who cares what minors think?
In addition, I think that Obama will show his true colors to our country AND the world by how he handles our issues, such as the state of our economy, the immigration issues, and of course gas prices(which he proposed to lower by lowering the effects we have as a country on global warming and pollution). I do see sincerity in his eyes that I haven’t seen since I’ve seen footage of Kennedy, and I know that other people feel this too.
that’s also probably why most others voted for him, because they felt comfortable in his presence more than McCain’s.
And even though I didn’t support Obama much for his ethnicity, I do feel very proud of how our country has progressed over the last 60 years.
When I was in English class a couple days after election day, and since we were learning about good speakers, my teacher put on the “I Have A Dream” speech.
I got about halfway through the speech until I had to excuse myself to go to the bathroom and cry a bit at just the thought that hatred like that actually happened, and with a lot of people. (and some still exists, of course, since the world’s not perfect).
But just to see how far we’ve gone makes me even more proud of my country, and how much it has matured and learned from its mistakes.

I love how people keep saying how “proud” they are of their country… it really shows how bright you all truly are.

Did you really fall for his nonsense? Seriously? You people need a wake-up call if you’re really that blind.

Obama says he’s going to lower taxes on the middle class… and the rich will have to pay more. Since when was this policy okay? We’re all equals, and we should be treated equally. People with more money worked harder for that money. They earned it, and they should deserve to keep it… who cares if they don’t need it, or if it would be put to better use by having the government “distribute the wealth”? Since when was it the government’s job to determine how much of your own money its okay for you to keep?

Alright… let’s play a little game. I’ll give you a story and a question, and we’ll see how you answer…

First, we all understand that, according to the Constitution of the United States, the government derives its power from the consent of the governed, right? For those of you who don’t know what that means… it means that the government cannot do something that would be morally wrong for the individual to do.

Now, suppose you live in an apartment building with two other guys, Bob and Joe. Now, Bob is a pretty well-to-do guy, so to speak…. Joe, on the other hand? Not so much. Joe asks you to borrow some money, and you, being the nice person that you are, give him $100 for food and such. Good for you! You’re a philanthropist. However, you don’t think that’s good enough, so you go to Bob and ask him for the money. Bob says no, he doesn’t want to give the money to Joe. Reasons don’t matter here…. maybe he has his own plans for the money, maybe he simply doesn’t want to be generous… it doesn’t matter. He says no.

Would it be morally right for you to put a gun to his head and force him to give the money to Joe?

No. No, it wouldn’t… anyone with an IQ higher than room temperature could see that.

Now, for the real question: If it would be morally wrong to force someone to be charitable, and if the government derives its power from the consent of the governed, how can you justify Obama’s legalized plunder?

[81] Posted by: Alchiba | January 8th, 2009 at 11:06 am

Just because someone makes more money than someone else doesn’t necessarily mean that they worked harder for that money. The government is distributing the wealth anyway by spending Americans’ hard earned tax dollars so how is Obama being any different anyway? He just wants to put the money to better use. By the way, it seems that the ones who are against Obama are only against one thing about him. You don’t have to like every single detail about a person to support him or her.

[82] Posted by: nikkib310 | January 8th, 2009 at 11:36 am

Generally, yes, it does… Sure, people with higher paying jobs usually don’t do as much physical labor, but they typically have longer work hours and less of a home life… besides, anyone can pump gas or wait tables, but if you made these people switch jobs, I’m sure that without the proper education, a minimum-wage worker couldn’t succeed at one of the higher paying jobs… Even with inheritance money, someone’s worked hard to earn it, if that is what you’re referencing to… because, logically, someone earned that money at some point in their life, and they chose to give it to relatives or heirs, and if that’s what they chose to do with it… well, that’s their choice.

You’re right about how the government is already doing that… and it’s a problem. You don’t cure poison ivy rashes by rubbing against more poison ivy. Putting someone like Obama in charge won’t solve that issue.

Define “better use”… that term is subject to the individual’s opinion, isn’t it? Perhaps the people who earned the money define “better use” as keeping it for themselves. Since when was it the government’s job to decide what words mean?

You’re right, I don’t have to like every single detail about a person to support him… but one issue can be a deal breaker. I once dated a guy that sold crack… he was sweet, handsome, and smart… but I really didn’t want to date a crack dealer. It’s the same situation, except Obama’s not my hot crack dealer ex-boyfriend; he’s just an ignorant loser who supports big government… and I have more than just one reason to despise him.

If you want, I’ll bring up his over-inflated ego, his exploitation of the people’s ignorance, his communist values, his lack of experience, or his questionable background (hated in that order).

[86] Posted by: toaz93 | January 12th, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Actually… the election of Obama kind of does make America seem like it’s full of lazy, racist dumbasses….

They’re too lazy to get off their fat butts and work for a living, and instead want the government to take care of them and they really believed all of Obama’s shallow lies….

As for racism, it’s become obvious that the most racist people are minorities, though the term “racist” is not really appropriate for any of this…Racism is defined as the belief in the genetic superiority of one race over another. People who voted against Obama didn’t do so because they believed their skin color made them better than him, and while I’m sure that there are some people out there who believe in this, you have to keep in mind that their IQs are probably equivalent to room temperature. Prejudice would be more accurate. Essentially, voting for Obama is good because he’s black, and voting for McCain makes you a racist because he’s white. It’s ridiculous… you can’t talk about Obama without mentioning his skin color. It has nothing to do with his intelligence, his experience, or how good a president he’ll be.

[87] Posted by: Alchiba | January 13th, 2009 at 10:35 am

I voted for McCain because he was the more experienced and qualified for the job. It doesn’t matter to me what color Obama is, I simply do not trust him, he lacks experience and I dislike his politics. He is going to be one of the biggest promise-breakers in some time, once he takes office. Even now many leftists/liberals are whining about choices he is making.

I must also applaud outgoing President Bush for not only keeping the USA safe since 9-11 but for installing policies and programs to keep our intelligence agencies informed and on top of things. From what I hear Obama is already planning to dismantle some of this, so I sadly anticipate another tradgedy coming. President Bush also maintained his integrity and morals through all he has had to deal with, despite all the abuse and harsh words he gets. He kept our nation safe not only from terrorist attacksbut from liberal attacks on family and marriage.

I think choosing Obama was a bad choice! But luckily we didn’t get another Clinton, that would be an even worse choice!!! I just don’t think to many Democrats are good. I think most are scumbags. But in any case Obama is my new president and I am going to hope for the best. Being the President of the U.S.A. is the hardest job you could have. So I will thank and respect anyone who will take on the job, no matter how lousy I think they are.

[89] Posted by: Kaity92 | January 14th, 2009 at 1:24 pm

Im confused about what obama is doing. He is raising taxes, giving tax cuts( like bush did and it did not work out), and he want to spend a lot of money. He is contradicting big spending, and wants to put money in the pockets of Americans to spend it, so there will be money in econemy. The tax cuts is a old Keynesian strategy, but what does not make sense is how he gives money, yet will gain almost nothing back. Tax cuts do not stimulate the economy by “putting money in people’s pockets. Nor will there be any improved incentives to save, or invest, or start or expand a business, or hire new workers. The credit does not even provide increased incentives to work. Notice that these arguments apply even for workers who do pay considerable income taxes. Suppose you work and earn enough to pay $5,000 per year in income taxes. The Obama tax credit will reduce your income taxes by $500. In this case, the credit is a real tax cut.

I am so glad Obama won the 2008 election, this historical event opened my eyes to the fact that America has grown and proved to other people in different countries that we can come together and race or gender isn’t as much a factor as it used to be. I think Barack will take our country to new heights and economic growth, also I want to address people who critcizes Obama’s message of change like we want our troops in Irag forever, or our economy to keep getting worse so everyone loses their jobs and our money will end up being worth anything if that’s the country that you igornant people want to live in fine by me but when you realize your all alone in your perfect little world as so you call it don’t be suprised. I’m not saying things will change overnight I understand it’s gonna take some time but I rather have Barack than an older George Bush!!! Also I want to address the whole tax thing he’s raising taxes on people or families who make $250,000 or more I think that’s reasonable because I’m tired of the rich getting everything and the middle and lower class getting left behind. I would rather see taxes raised on someone who can afford it rather than the elderly, or a struggling single mother or father. BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we dont want to be racist, we should treat him like weve treated every other president. They are closing my school on inaguration day, i didnt see them do that 4 years ago. this is about the most racist spectacle ive seen in my life. just for the record i didnt want obama in office just because he is planning to tax the hell out of my ammo

I think Mike Huckabee should run again, win, and have Jeb Bush as Vice President.

Ugh. Obama wants change. But, heck, so did Hitler! I usually don’t say anything to anyone, and I’m willing to give Obama a chance to prove himself but I’ve never felt so strongly against someone I don’t know. Call female intuition, call it whatever. I didn’t vote for him because I don’t like his views and I think he’s going to screw the country over even more. Let me ask you, what has he promised??? Nothing, just “hope”. Hope isn’t tangible. Hope isn’t a job.

“I honestly dont get it. the country wants to not be racist but everbody freaks out when obama wins the election. Just because hes black, he gets his head on quarters and plates. AGREED! Gah, my friends call me racist because I didn’t like him. But one of my friends voted for him BECAUSE he’s black. I don’t care what color, gender, or species he is frankly.

And really, I’ve never felt so connected to anything political. I almost cried when he didn’t win and several people I know wore black for a week after he was elected. They said they “were in mourning for the country”

**** i don’t like obama BUT I WON’T BE IGNORANT *****

He wants to take money from people making over 250,000 dollars a year, and give it to people with less, who don’t earn as much - wait why did the word socialism pop in my head. (that was a little ignorant). listen this isn’t going to work. What happens when the people making over 250,000 dollars, decide to stop making that much.

Now you are a person who makes over 250,000 dollars a year. you get money taken away from you every year… so you aplly for a lower paying job. Now you are getting money every year. THE PEOPLE WHO EARN MORE SHOULDN’T HAVE MONEY TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM. THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T WORK (EARN) SHOULDN’T BE FED LIKE CHILDREN FROM MOMMY (THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM.

I think people are really overrating the fact that someone says they’re glad that a black man is President.
Obviously, not everyone that voted for Obama voted because he’s black. I’m not going to be ignorant and say that no one voted just for that reason either, but just becuase someone is happy we now have a black president doesn’t mean that that’s the only reason they like him. Obama’s changing history was just a positive underlying factor to the fact that he’s going make a great president.

I don’t like Obama. But maybe, just maybe the blacks can shut their face now about all that unfair racist bullcrap. They got what they needed… a push to actually start working and helping out in this country instead of sitting around whining about why they cant have more money. But it’s okay. But i thanked God that Obama was made president.

I was so happy that McCain and Palin werent going to be in office.
That would scare me shitless.

Obama amazes me.
He has the guts to say what other politicians wont.
He has the guts to get up in front of racist assholes, and i am just praying and hoping he doesnt get hurt.

I wish they would stop treating him like a celebrity. I mean who cares if he is having problems with his mother-in-law (i’m not even kidding i saw that on the cover of some celeb. magazine.) I just feel like the press is stalking him and it can’t be good for his consentration. how can he do his work if he is being watched 24/7? i wouldn’t mind if it was strictly political, but they care about the stupidest things, like what is daughters are eating for lunch and whether or not he was sworn in right. It’s stupid things like that, that make him less of a president and more of celebrity. next thing you know they will say he has a eating disorder or the his wife looks pregnet. it’s not healthy to smuge personal and professional life together. I don’t even like it when they do that with regular celebrities, but i know that’s not going to end any time soon.

you wanna know what i said? are we really that stupid? he promises change and everyone automatically assumes that is all well and dandy.they didnt even listen to another word past change.thats why that was his motto for his campaign and empty promise called “change” your right it’ll change but not the way you hope so. you will have less money than you do now..you thought bush was bad..just wait this will 10X worse..at least with bush we had money..obama is going to tax you until you have nothing left all for the benefit of him and the national goverenment. you know the last time we elected an extremely liberal president..bill clinton! and everybody knows how great of a job he did!! im married but we can sleep around anyways..thats totally right. this is who we as a country-supposedly the strongest country in the world is electing to lead us in times of trouble in crisis.we are the dumbest country! so obamas first official bill in office is to close guantamnomo bay? his reason? because terrortists are being tortured TERRORISTS!!! he wants America to go back to ways of old..that was we protected OUR country brfore assisting everyone else. just wait thats the first of many terrible bills tha will be signed into action and were 4 days into his term! 4 DAYS!!!! hes still got his whole term left. and dont thinki dont like him just because hes black which he is.good for him i personally dont care..can he lead us through a time of crisis? i say no no no way possible. look at his credentials and then you decide dont just ride empty hopes, not only in politics but in all aspects of life. January 20th 2013 cant come fast enough!!

Is anyone in here saying what they know or repeating what someone else said when they really don’t have a clue who Obama is or what he’s about?

Just curious.

[108] Posted by: greeneink | January 24th, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Black or white; Republican or Democratic, whatever. As long as he does a good job, I’m game.

[109] Posted by: jubilee18 | January 25th, 2009 at 12:32 am

Before anyone criticizes the president, I suggest they try spell check… for example, it is spelled “grateful” not “grate full”. I suppose it’s the truly unintelligent that cannot appreciate how wonderful the results of the 2008 election are.

[110] Posted by: Beffacis47 | January 25th, 2009 at 1:59 am

i voted Mcain thats all i have to say. I also dont think peopel should bring race into the election, not saying people did but im sure someone out there voted for him cuz hes black or didnt vote for him cuz hes black. and i dont think black or white is reason enough to hate someone. I dont support Obama because Im not for what he is for

[111] Posted by: heathaphs | January 25th, 2009 at 11:47 am

first of all..
we should not be looking at color,
we should be looking at what he can do for the country.
if you guys dont like Obama in the office then hey..
i dont know what to tell you.
He’s already in the white house so..
you cant really do anything about but just type words on the message board and complain.

[112] Posted by: Neika_BaBii | January 25th, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Number one, Barack Obama is not a Muslim.

Number two, all you people who are saying Obama is horrible for our country, do you remember the eight years we had of the Bush administration? Torturing people without reason, starting an war we could never win for WMDs that never existed, running the economy into the ground. If that’s the kind of place you want to live… well, I don’t know what to say to you.

[113] Posted by: dana8 | January 25th, 2009 at 9:03 pm

I like Obama. He seems like a really nice guy. I did like what he did for Guantanamo (yeah that’s probably not spelled right) it’s just that i wish he wasn’t pro-choice. I just don’t see how such a religious guy could be for something like that. I know that abortion isn’t the only part of the pro-choice movement, but i don’t think it should be legal to have an abortion unless the mother’s life is on the line.
Now for the person who brought up the Bush administration. I don’t think it’s fair to say that it has been the last 8 years. we reelected him didn’t we, so the first 4 years couldn’t have been too horrible. really it’s only been the last two years that everything started to crumble on us. i know it sounds like i’m defending him. maybe i am, but just his right to be treated like a human. I mean booing him at the ignagural? What point are we making there? Sure you hated what he did, but did you ever think to take action against it? so the only people that can truly boo him are people who didn’t just whine about it and actually did something. To blame him for everything is kind of low.

[114] Posted by: Eligirl77 | January 25th, 2009 at 10:13 pm

You’re right; he shouldn’t be booed. And I wasn’t saying he was a bad person. But I am saying it was most definitely the last eight years, not just the last two. Guantanamo Bay was set up, what, like seven years ago at the beginning of January. We went to war in the beginning of his presidency. It’s true the economy didn’t begin to disintegrate until recent years, but there must have been a long road to its collapse.

I’m not saying it was all Bush. Congress allowed him to do some things and Dick Cheney persuaded him to do other (most) things. With Barack Obama as a strong, well-educated, intelligent man, things will finally change. I’m not saying it will be tomorrow; it’s going to take a pretty long time. But he’ll start making the changes that America needs.

[115] Posted by: dana8 | January 25th, 2009 at 10:37 pm

I dont like obama, but the fact that we have a black presedent is just awesome. thats 200 years of racism washed away. only in america.

[116] Posted by: jw5732 | January 26th, 2009 at 10:32 pm

Obama, just doesn’t seem very bright. I understand, its great that we have the first African American in office, but I still would have prefered McCain. I agree with jw5732. I can’t say I’m thrilled that Obama is the President, but that doesn’t make America any different then it was when Bush was president. That’s another issue, people don’t relize that Bush actuall did a pretty good job considering what was thrown at him during his presidency. So, for that, Thank You President Bush. I don’t agree with abortion, higher taxes, and spending billions of dollars on nothing. I also think, it is too soon to pull our troops out. Don’t get me wrong, what they are doing is incredible, but I think the terrorists are ready to stop. And, someday, when we are finally secure, our troops will come home. God Bless America, keep our troops safe. And, as for Obama, I hope he knows what he’s doing…….

[117] Posted by: AriEB | January 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pm

P.S. Obama seems to be a little vauge when he talks about “Change”. Ok, we know you want to change, but HOW? WHEN? WHAT? WITH WHO”S MONEY?

[118] Posted by: AriEB | January 28th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

He’s only half-black and I’m positive he has nothing in common with the common black folk. I live in the south and it would be nice to see Obama affecting black people in a cultural way.

I’d like to see the black people living on welfare get out there like their president and make something out of themselves.
Obama has many socialist views, I am curious in seeing what else he does… but for now he is our president and we must respect him for that.

[119] Posted by: Actress13 | February 2nd, 2009 at 4:19 pm

I wouldnt vote for McCain because of the nut job he had for VP.
Im sorry but she scared the shit out of me.
She was an religious fanatic and that shouldnt be allowed in the white house.
But anyways…the elections over people! if you dont like obama than LEAVE.
Were better off with out you….
:)

I’m very sorry to see some of the uneducated remarks people have made on here. Comparing Obama to Hitler, saying his policies are trash yet not stating what’s so wrong with those policies, and saying he doesn’t talk about the issues, and all this talk about how it was just all hype… honestly??This is getting ridiculous. Obama has clearly stated his policies and clearly talked about the issues if you’ve ever actually watched a debate and that’s fine if people don’t agree with them. I’m usually very liberal and I didn’t mind McCain all that much i just thought Obama was the better candidate for America right now. I think he brings a fresh outlook and some good changes but the man hasn’t even been in office for a month yet and before he was even inaugerated people were complaining about him! At least give him a chance beofore you start complaining! Yea I did complain about Bush, but he had already had his first term and wasn’t putting America in a good place. Besides that, Obama was a fine candidate just because he is more well-liked by leaders around the world. Most of them were rooting for him to win and that’s reason enough that he should seeing as our standing isn’t very good in a lot of countries where we need it to be, and especially since our world is becoming much more globalized. On the racism topic, yes a lot of people voted for him because he was black but the majority of people voted for him becasue they want change and that’s something we think he can bring. I mean a lot of people voted for John McCain because he was old and because his running mate was a woman. Lots of uneducated voters vote for who they can relate to period. Also, I’m not black and I was still crying during the inaugeration because i knew how historically significant this was. That said, i just like to point out that the democrats had a black man, a woman, a white man, and a mexican all up for the possibility of becoming the democratic presidentital candidate while the republicans had a white man, a white man, a white man, and a white man… not that I think it’s important what race color or gender you are but just something to think about…

hey is the guy that deletes comments on here an obama fan?

[122] Posted by: patchesyaboy | February 4th, 2009 at 3:58 pm

i agree that uneducated people vote for who they to. i totally agree. What if, we really didn’t need a “change” right now… what if that’s too much for the economy right now?

[123] Posted by: myrandajeannek | February 4th, 2009 at 4:00 pm

why obama?

[124] Posted by: myrandajeannek | February 4th, 2009 at 4:03 pm

I would have voted McCain if I could vote. I agree with more things he stood for than the things Obama stands for. To me the most import issues were war, abortion, and gay marriage. I believe yes we should continue where we are in the war and we shouldn’t leave Iraq yet. Abortion is WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG! It should NOT be legal or the woman’s choice which by the way I am a woman. Gay marriage is weird and also wrong according to what I believe. I also don’t think homosexuals should raise children but thats another topic.

[125] Posted by: ShortPurpleShrub | February 4th, 2009 at 10:13 pm

I think it is pathetic that people get so choked up over a stupid liberal. Did anyone do that when Bush was president? no, i don’t think so. I personally think that half of the obamacians want him becuase hes black (no, im not racist, my best friends are black). But serioiusly, if we just took one look at his policicys we would see he is a communist muslim who shouldn’t be in office. (okay, maybe hes not muslim, but i still think its funny)

[126] Posted by: savgoestocity | February 5th, 2009 at 5:41 pm

and in 6 months when u liberals are homeless, jobless, getting bombed from al queda, foodless, and hating obama, eat your change! and don’t blame me i voted mccain (or if i could have i would have)

[127] Posted by: savgoestocity | February 5th, 2009 at 5:43 pm

eveything seems to be about “feelings” these days. for proof look at these answers. people want to make themselves feel good about themselves, its hilarious. lets make history! elect barack! save the world! be green! it is seriously funny. also dangerous

by the way i am sick of people saying “you come up with better ideas” if you could actually give me five reasons why you like this guy id be amazed. we will start wit economy. he wants to raise taxes and build wealth from ground up. hooray! oh wait, its been tried? and it doesnt work? dang. what did work in history? cutting taxes on all people!!! flat line tax and gold standard dollar needs to be brought back. look at reagans presidency as proof of this. what next? war. vietnam, remember? we cant pull out in the middle of a war this is just insane, especially when we are winning. if you dont think were winning get ur head out of ur butt. what ever happened to us? we never used to tolerate a loser now we would rather give up because apparently the right way to deal with terrorism is “negotiating”. guantanamo. where will we put them? please tell me what country will take these terrorists. if you really think theyre being mistreated (just a reminder that they are TERRORISTS who HATE AMERICA) you go down there and give em a bath or whatever you hippies do for people you pity. stop tryin to turn america into a socialist country. go to russia or sumn but dont ruin our country. any more questions? fine post em, i will shut u up with REAL FACTS. not myths

[129] Posted by: glopop2010 | February 6th, 2009 at 2:00 am

SoFresh92, you’d better check your facts.

McCain has more experience than Obama, and that’s what he had always boasted about when he campaigned and debated against Obama, and that’s why some people might have wanted to vote for McCain.

BUT, he went and chose Palin for vp. She has EVEN LESS experience than Obama! So McCain couldn’t use experience against Obama anymore, and what might have been a closer election went to Obama even more. [Even though it would have been nearly impossible/hard for ANY Republican to get elected after George Bush, because after a party screws up, people usually go towards the other party/ or vote against the party that screwed up.]

& Joe Biden was a good choice BECAUSE HE HAD MORE EXPERIENCE [than Obama]. Do you expect Obama to pick someone with less experience than him?? C’mon!

What I didn’t like about Obama’s campaign was “that change” he promised was too vague. What change did he mean? Should start smoking weed? It he talking bout change in lifestyle? Habits? Globalization? Oil prices? Car prices? Ramen prices? Bailouts?

According to like two books, Obama isn’t even the first black president (there’s maybe 4 or 5 more). Google it for yourself. Thomas Jefferson’s mom was supposedly black, to hide that, he burned all her stuff when she died. ..but that’s all just rumor, don’t take my word for it. :)

Either way, it shouldn’t be a big deal b/c he’s black. He’s a good candidate for presidency because he went to Harvard, he was [the first black, even though it doesn't matter] head of the Harvard Law Review (and from what I hear, only the best can head it), etc.

Sorry about the mistake above I was wondering whether I should say this to you but what the hell. You know comments like that are the reason racism still exists today in America you are really making yourself look like a butthole. How dare you say those things about my race it’s igornant ass people like you that make me work harder to pursue my dreams and make something of myself. I thought that in America I had to work ten times harder to suceed because not only was I a woman but an African-american woman and then I thought when America elected Barack Obama as president the world had finally changed and that racism wasn’t a problem but you just proved me wrong. Also before you start judging my race from what you see on t.v. or read in the magazines or what America has betrayed African Americans for thousands of years starting with slavery not everything in the media is true there are actually black people who work hard, and who want to suceed and who isn’t just sitting around whining asking for more money and hell even when you go back in the history books there were more sucessful black people than you can count( you can count right considering you said that stupid ass comment) but I want to thank you because you just motivated me even harder to prove people like you wrong. OH and Chausse if someone makes more than $250,000 a year why would they downsize their salary or the way they live just so they would’t have to pay taxes that’s stupid ass hell you freakin idiot!!!!! think before you speak honey because you can sound real stupid at times bottom line you can say whatever you want to say that doesn’t change the fact that BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA JR. is our 44th president!!!!! and oh luvrei you say that the country will reap what it sow how about taking that little piece of advice and using it yourself beccause karma is a bitch and you will reap what you sow saying comments like that and thinking their right when there not my advice to you is grow up and know what your talking about before you talk about it.

you cant judge a president until his presidency is over. people have the right for their own thoughts. yes the majority voted for a half black president. remembver he was raised by white mom and grandparents. if people say that if u didnt vote for him are racist it just proves the point that you are as bad as the racist people.

[135] Posted by: madi_sean_hailee | February 9th, 2009 at 11:15 pm

oh by the way i love how people make assumptions for people who dont see eye to eye with them. electing a black president doesnt really make me think the racist people of all races will change. but in a way it will get worse. the last two presidents to elimanate slaves and then equal rights were both killed in office. just facts. do you remember that america didnt start the slavery but slaves arent just blacks. do anoy of you know who built the trans-american railroad, asians. i persaonally didnt vote for obamam but his slick tongue and having a vp who is has done nothing for his own state let alone the easiest to control if obama died in office. i know that it souinds like i hate obama but i am american above and beleive in what it stands for. any more fa

[136] Posted by: madi_sean_hailee | February 9th, 2009 at 11:29 pm

one more question, why do african americans want to be called that? i understand if you were born or a child of someone born in africa. did u know that blacks are as responisble in some cases in slavery as whites, since your own sold you into slavery. that aslong as people are different colors there will always be racisim. just a fact. i wish it wasnt true but its in human nature to use any means avaliable to be better then someone. this country has been built on the blood and sweat of the working class and the minds of who are in charge. thats all for now. Peace for all

black or white obama’s ideas where whole-hearted. he wants to get the troops out of the middle east. & he wants to give college students a 4000$ taxcut. & if he makes mistakes then darn, he is only human. & he didn’t get elected because he was black. he got elected because majority of the population are low-income families who need someone in the white house who have their best interest in mind instead of filling their own pockets. silly us for dreaming of change.

um Chollo20: no we don’t! If you look back in recent history…… we’ve had a few Republicans who unfortunately screwed up. Then we get a Democrat that makes things better…… then somehow we end up with a Republican again. It just needs to complete the cycle

It really makes me mad that people are arguing over how little experience Obama has had. Does the president really HAVE to be over fifty? I mean, should we make an age limit?!
Well, in that case, we should also make the limit of the oldest be sixty. Oh, and no heart attacks. Hasn’t McCain had 2 already? or was it three? jeez, its really hard to keep track nowadays.

And for those of you who decided that when Obama won that our country was going to hell or we were all going to die, please, I feel for you man, I really do. It musst be so tiring to be so ridiculously dramatic all the time.
