Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has a twenty-year-old boyfriend!. The fifteen-year-old teen phenom is said to be dating underwear model and aspiring country singer Justin Gaston. The two were recently spotted going to church in Pasadena, Calif. Sources say they were very “touchy-feely” during service, even in front of Miley’s family. Justin later went to see Miley perform at the Disney Concert for Hope in Hollywood on Sunday night.
Now, we’re all about love, especially the “I’m dating the six foot tall, buff, church-going dude” kinda love, but is this even legal? Isn’t Justin a tad too old for Miley? Cyrus family reps recently told People magazine that Justin is “just a friend from Nashville.” And get this, her dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, cosigns on the whole thing. The two met on the reality show, Nashville Star, hosted by none other than daddy Cyrus, who is said to have been the one that introduced them.

Come on now. Seriously?!?! Doens’t Miley Cyrus have anything better to do with her time then “date” an older man if that is what she is doing. I’m sorry but she is not a very good role model for young girls. My cousin who is 5 loves the show hannah montana, but I’m sorry…what kind of role model goes out with someone or even considers going out with someone 5 years older than them.

Sure, we all have the right to pursue happiness. Every average joe on the street knows that. But, there comes a time when we must ask ourselves “what should I do?” not “what can I do?” And in this case, Ms. Cyrus went ahead and threw all her responsibilities out the window, and wound up dating a twenty-year-old guy. She didn’t obligate herself to her family, or to her T.V. audience that looks up to her. She selfishly acted for her own gratification. The whole thing pretty much makes me sick.
Perhaps more disturblingly, if she has the gall to show affection, and I mean “touchy-feely” affection in a church, I don’t think that a five year age gap would stop her from fulfilling her lusts. Just like juiceboxxx62 hinted, Ms. Cyrus might end up pregnant, then again, she might not. But really, look at it. Take a naive fifteen-year-old with a seventeen-year-old’s hormones, and mix her with a twenty-year-old model. I tell you, you have a formula for tragedy.

It’s about maturity level too… my parents are 6 years apart, but they dated and were married in their 20’s. She should be focusing on her education and career instead of getting touchy feely in church and wanting to be chased around by the paparazzi for another minute added onto her 15 she’s already had.

And nothing they are doing is illegal, as long as they aren’t having sex. Sure, she might be pressured to have sex more than normal teens, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt, because I don’t personally know her character and I think it’s rude to make judgments of that nature. I’ll trust her father, since he would naturally only want what’s best for his daughter.
Besides, 5 years isn’t a big difference. My boyfriend and I are 6 and a half years apart, and no one we know has a problem with it.

You know…the whole 15 year-old dating the 20 year-old…thing. “What gives her the right to date someone older than her” refers to the simple fact that the girl, a minor, falls underneath her parent’s jurisdiction. You, an 18 year-old, should recollect obeying what mommy said in the not so distant past. And I can safely assume that you took offense to something she told you at one point in time. If this proves true, then I can assuredly say “Suck it up you pansy. Your parents had dominion over you until you obtained 18 years.” Now, Ms. Cyrus can’t really accomplish much without her parents consent. I don’t much care for Miley, although I do think people are harsh on her. But what really gets to me is that everyone is telling people to stop criticizing her because she is “just doing what normal teens do.” That’s stupid– “normal teens” aren’t international celebrities with millions of fans, mostly under the age of 14. Whether she or anyone else likes it or not, what she does will be seen by her fans, and if she isn’t ready to handle being famous, she needs to step back from the spotlight.
