Dave Grohl is really f***in’ stoked for you to hear Metallica’s new album, Death Magnetic. So stoked, in fact, that the Foo Fighters frontman and his drummer, Taylor Hawkins, will host a nationally syndicated radio special with the men of Metallica tonight at 9 p.m. EST.
Titled Metallica: The World Premiere of Death Magnetic, the program will be broadcast on rock stations across the fruited plain, providing fans with an exclusive look into one of the most anticipated albums of 2008 more than a week ahead of its official drop date.
“You may have heard a little something about a radio show being broadcast live from our very own HQ,” the Metallica camp announced on their website last Friday. “Well, we figured it would be a lot more fun if we invited some ‘Tallica fans to come hang with us and, lo and behold, one thing led to another and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins actually said ‘Yes!’ So on Thursday, we’re going to hang out, play tracks from Death Magnetic, and chat with Dave and Taylor.”
Earlier this year, Grohl spoke fondly of Sirs Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammett, and Trujillo, telling Metal Hammer magazine, “I can’t wait to hear the new s*** and no matter what you guys do I’ll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I’m sure you’ll come out and blow everybody’s f***in’ minds, because you’re f***in’ METALLICA! Good luck. And don’t release it until it’s kick-ass.”
Death Magnetic will be released worldwide on Friday, September 12.
