I had mixed feelings about giving up part of a balmy summer evening to experience the horror and dread experienced by journalist Mariane Pearl in the days after the kidnapping and eventual murder of her husband, the journalist Daniel Pearl. Despite my reservations, A Mighty Heart surpassed my expectations and turned out to be a smart, captivating, and intensely human thriller that’s worthy of your time.

In the immortal words of Alice Cooper: School’s out for summer! And that calls for a celebration. There’s always been something about Maroon 5 that seems to attract the masses—whether it’s charming front man Adam Levine, the distinct flavor of their singles, or the unexpected expletives in their lyrics—fans just want more. Their latest album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, is sure to be a hit this summer among teens and adults all over the country. The band has stated in an interview that this album is more “danceable” than 2002’s Songs About Jane, so don’t be surprised to hear Maroon 5 the next time you go clubbing.
