It’s no mystery that, these days, countless models and celebrities look downright sickly. Flipping through magazines or catching a glimpse of a designer runway show is sure to send shivers down your spine. It’s almost as if we see more of Nicole Richie, Kate Bosworth, and Victoria Beckham’s ribcages with each day that passes.

The recent death of Luisel Ramos, a 22-year-old South American model, spurred even more controversy. Ramos experienced a heart attack after modeling in a fashion show this past August. Apparently, she was severely underweight after having starved herself for days. She stuck to a diet of green leaves and diet coke for months after she was told that a successful career would mean having to lose some weight. Read more…

Colorado School Shooting  Sep 28, 2006  
 

Just two weeks after a young man opened fire in a Montreal college, a gunman killed himself and one of his female hostages in Platte Canyon High School, located in Colorado. Reports are now being released that the man, a fifty four year old named Duane Morrison, sexually assaulted some of his captives.

The intruder stormed an English honors class and, after dismissing most of the students, held six female students in the building as authorities tried to negotiate with him. Morrison eventually released four of the girls but, after refusing to continue speaking with police, a SWAT Team entered the classroom. Read more…

Garageband.com: Delivering an enticing slew of new indie music.  Sep 27, 2006  
 

There aren’t many sites that I would recommend nowadays where one can find quality free indie music. But I happened to stumble on one a few days ago, and I’ve come out a changed teen.

Fed up with bizarre, laughable productions by artists trying to make it big, but are still just struggling ducklings? Well Garageband.com is ready to change that. Utilizing a voting system of 1-5 stars, listeners have the option to review, or just rate the song by stars. Each song, depending on its rating is placed in order from highest to lowest accordingly in its genre. Read more…

U.Va: Just Say No To Early Decision  Sep 26, 2006  
 

The count is up to three.

Following Harvard and Princeton’s announcements, the University of Virginia said that it too would put an end to early admissions.

Let’s get a SparkLife early admission college pool going.
