You would have to weigh your instincts of self-preservation against the knowledge that books are burning. You wouldn’t openly defy the regime, of course, but you’d act just squirrelly enough that your wife would report your suspicious pro-book leanings to the proper authorities.
Or maybe you’re just too spirited. Maybe you’re too much of a free thinker, a little too willing to ask “why” instead of “how.” That’s a good way to get yourself set on fire, or hunted by the Mechanical Hound. Good luck with that.
