7 of the Most Disappointing Endings in Literature

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Our society really got on board with the whole death-battles-between-kids conceit, and as a result, The Hunger Games blossomed into a hugely popular franchise. Because of this, there was no way its conclusion was going to please everyone. There was just no way.

And I’m not begrudging Katniss her happy ending with Peeta. I’m not, I swear! But Gale being responsible for the death of Prim was a cop-out, let’s not pretend it wasn’t. Plenty of people felt that Suzanne Collins was using the bombing as a way to write her way out of the hole she’d dug herself into by foisting a love triangle on us for three whole books.
