Tragic (And Slightly Less Tragic) Literary Deaths, Ranked

(Obviously this post is more spoilery than a Jack-O-Lantern in January, so proceed at your own risk.)

As young folks (and human beings in general), we rely on literature to teach us a great many things. How to be brave, how to empathize with people different than ourselves, and the correct pronunciation of "wingardium leviosa." And sometimes, we need stories to punch us right in the Feelings and remind us of our own mortality. Of course, some punches land harder than others. So here are some of the most famous deaths in YA history, based on our reactions, which run the gamut from "ugly-crying-until forever" to "thumbing back through the pages to figure out who actually just died."
