Great American Novels, Ranked from "Pretty Great, Actually" to "Meh"

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was not the first person to write a book about the many trials and pitfalls of the American Dream, nor was he the last. But he was certainly the first to write a book where someone says the words "Open the whiskey, Tom. And I’ll make you a mint julep. Then you won’t seem so stupid to yourself," and for that this would be one of my favorite books even if it wasn't already one of my favorite books.

About the Author

In real life, she goes by the name Courtney Gorter. This is a closely guarded secret, and you're the only one who knows about it, so be cool. You can follow her on Twitter or check out her website if you want, but it's just going to be a lot of complaining.
