7 Authors Who HATED the Movie Adaptations of Their Novels

I imagine trusting a filmmaker to adapt your novel is a lot like leaving your kid with a babysitter who COULD be a murderer, but they could also be a really nice person—there’s just no way to tell. You hope for the best (i.e. a faithful retelling and box office success), but you expect the worst (an adaptation that makes a MOCKERY of your book and everything you stand for as a person).

And while the following film adaptations were pretty much beloved by film critics and audiences alike, there was one person who wasn’t happy: the original author.

In real life, she goes by the name Courtney Gorter. This is a closely guarded secret, and you're the only one who knows about it, so be cool. You can follow her on Twitter or check out her website if you want, but it's just going to be a lot of complaining.
