It’s a miracle these two even got together in the first place. (Finding out he keeps his crazy wife locked in the attic is the point most women would have washed their hands of this business.)

But I’d say their relationship isn’t long for this world mostly because Mr. Rochester probably isn’t long for this world. There’s a twenty-year age difference between the two of them (Jane was 18 when they met, and Mr. Rochester was 37), and the life expectancy in those days was like 45. I’m just playing the odds on this one.
