QUIZ: Is This a Bastille Lyric or a Quote from 1984?

Bastille/Facebook/Barnes & Noble

Pretty much every Bastille song is an upbeat indie pop anthem about two lovers lying in bed together so they can briefly forget that the world will end in fire. Since that’s more or less the plot to 1984, let’s see if you can tell the difference between a Bastille lyric and a quote from George Orwell’s classic dystopia.

1. "We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness."

2. "He was a lonely ghost uttering a truth that nobody would ever hear."

3. "Won't you exorcise my mind? I want to be free as I'll ever be."

4. "We are the dead. Our only true life is in the future."

5. "What's going to be left of the world if you're not in it?"

6. "Who am I to judge? I'm the worst of all. Some things are better left unsaid, but I miss the person I knew before."

7. "Pain… just synapses firing in our brain."

8. "Reality exists in the human mind and nowhere else."

9. "These four walls will keep you until you face the rope."

10. "I don't want virtue to exist anywhere. I want everyone to be corrupt to the bones."

11. "I go searching for you, wandering through our city to find some solace at your door."

12. "In the face of pain, there are no heroes."

In real life, she goes by the name Courtney Gorter. This is a closely guarded secret, and you're the only one who knows about it, so be cool. You can follow her on Twitter or check out her website if you want, but it's just going to be a lot of complaining.
