Hester Prynne is a person with a baby

In The Scarlet Letter, Hester has a baby out of wedlock. Everyone spends the rest of the novel either 1) soiling themselves at the very thought of her, or 2) chanting "SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!" in her general direction, because she's an adulteress now and probably evil. The baby is also evil.
