Whenever someone tries to adapt a beloved book into a best-selling Hollywood movie, they typically make upwards of a billion mistakes. They include unnecessary romantic subplots, they throw out whole characters, they change the entire ending and just hope nobody notices.

Or at least, that’s the case more often than not. But sometimes—just sometimes—the stars align, a butterfly flaps its wings somewhere, and we wind up with a movie adaptation that’s just as good as the book, if not better.
