The 8 Most Messed-Up Relationships in Literature

Bella and Edward from 'Twilight'

What can I say about Bella and Edward that hasn’t already been said a thousand times before, other than “I think Bella and Edward are part of the Illuminati, and history will prove me right”? (That’s my hot take. Or at least, I thought it was. Imagine my surprise when I learned I wasn’t the first person to suggest something like this.)

You already know all this, but I'll say it anyway: Edward is a 100-year-old vampire pretending to be a high school student. Bella is an actual high school student. The math doesn't work. Edward's also jealous, possessive, and controlling, and Bella's always tripping over things, so that's a relationship mismatch if I ever saw one.
