Ladies and germs! (Dad humor is coming back, mark our words.) We have an Isaac and a Mrs. Lancaster! Not a moment too soon, either. Shooting for The Fault in Our Stars is scheduled to start August 26, which means that a Mr. Nat Wolff will have just one month to work on perfecting the sweet, witty, and jilted Isaac. This will no doubt involve spending some time with newly visually-impaired people, since Isaac has just lost both of his eyes to cancer. Both Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort have been visiting cancer hospitals to speak to teens who are suffering through the same illnesses as Hazel and Gus.
Wolff most recently played the part of Rusty in Stuck in Love, directed by Fault's Josh Boone, and was originally up for the part of Gus, but says he is just happy to be a part of the film and work with Boone again.
Mrs. Lancaster will be played by the ever graceful and effervescent Laura Dern, who will no doubt capture what it is to be a mother of a daughter with cancer. That is to say, helicopter-y and trying to live each moment to the fullest.
Now that the major roles have been squared away, we can't help but visualize the book with these actors, and we think it's going to be real good.
What do you think of the casting?
