#Hashtags #We'd #Totally #Use #On #Facebook

By Chrissie Gruebel

Everyone’s favorite Twitter punchlines may or may not be coming to that place you used to go but now your mom has taken over—Facebook! This article from The Wall Street Journal says nothing conclusive about when or if the hashtag revolution might actually happen—the tip apparently comes from “people familiar with the matter”—but still, it’s interesting to think about. Do we need to be able to index all our Facebook conversations by topic, when at least 50% of the comments most likely make you want to repeatedly punch your keyboard? Not sure.

But still, it’s nice to dream about worlds that don’t yet exist—for example, I sometimes like to imagine what it would be like if centaurs were real (maybe use your billions on that, Zuckerberg?!) Plus, think of the fun you’ll have trying to explain to your mom and older aunts what a hashtag is, how to write one, and the appropriate way to address a centaur should you see one on the street.

Some of that fun can start right now. If we had the power, how would we #hashtag our FB content? To the newsfeed, Batman! I’m gonna hashtag every post I see!
