What To Give Up For Lent
Lent starts tomorrow! Are you ready? Let’s be clear and say that this post is not intended to mock anyone’s religious beliefs. We love everyone. We’re all friends here, right? And if we’re not friends, I’m going to need my sweatshirt back. For those unfamiliar with Lent, it’s the 40-day period before Easter, during which those who observe Lent are asked to give up something in honor of Jesus. It’s a solemn and genuine gesture of self-sacrifice that helps one reflect on God and the coming Holy Week.
From this holy tradition comes celebrations prior to Lent, such as Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Fasnacht Day (Donut Day), and other crazy parties all with the intent of getting the excitement (and fatty foods) out of your system before the somber time of Lent.
But how do you choose what to sacrifice for the Lenten season? It must be something that is truly difficult to give up, so giving up Chemistry homework doesn’t count. To help, we’ve listed a few select sacrifices, ranging in difficulty. What would be hardest to give up?
