Seriously, is it? We didn't see it.
Hot on the heels of this year's Oscar noms (om nom nom), the crack team of satirists and sociopaths who put together the annual RAZZIE Awards for Worst Achievements in Film just released their list of 2012 dis-honorees. Defying all logic like a vampire who sparkles in daylight, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II earned a robust 11 nominations in only 10 categories!
The final chapter of what I can only assume is the story of an unsuccessful boy-girl indie rock band for Seattle managed to earn TWO nominations in the Worst Onscreen Couple category, honoring both milk-white series heroes Edward & Bella, as well as the pervy paranormal flirtations between Jacob (superpower: shirts are invisible on him) and Renesmee Cullen (superpower: remembers what the inside of Bella's stomach looks like). Which couple is most deserving of the Golden Raspberry (trade value: one tube of glitter)? Find out on Saturday, February 23, the night before the 85th Oscars ceremony!
Other front-runners in the Razzie race include the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg family flick That's My Boy, an all-too-realistic tale of how one is a terrible father figure for the other. This one earned 8 nominations, including a Worst Actor nod for Sandler, but even this distinction pales in comparison to his record-setting win for Worst Actor AND Worst Actress in last year's Jack and Jill.
Also of note: Both the cast of the Jersey Shore and the puppet protagonists of The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure (which you've probably never heard of because it's the lowest-grossing nationwide film ever made) are up for Razzies this year. We'd like to wish the best of luck to Schluufy, Goobie, Snooki, Zoozie, Pauly, Toofie, Marvin Milkshake, and The Situation.
