For those of you not familiar with the term, a “supercut” is a video that's edited together from all of the examples of a certain kind of clip. So for example, you might have all of the couch gags from the Simpsons in one video, or all of the times Arnold Schwarzenegger has screamed in his movies. They can be short, they can be long, they can be drawn from a single film, or from all of film and television combined. What they have in common is an obsessive (probably pathological) commitment to digging through hundreds or thousands of hours of footage to find just the right clips. They also share an unusual quality of letting you look at familiar footage through a new lens. Here are our top 5.
5) Movie Titles in Movies
The great thing about this one is that there’s no confusion about where the clips come from.
4) The Inception Sound EVERYWHERE NOW!
It’s a phenomenon we’ve all noticed, but it’s nice to have some video proof.
3) The "I'm Batman" Supercut
Short, sweet, and to the point. How many of you have found yourself saying this?
2) Robert Pattinson is Happy Twilight is Over
A lot of us realize that Robert Pattinson is actually a pretty decent actor, and we die a little inside for him every time we see him in another one of those abhorrent movies. This supercut is a nice reminder that he feels the very same way.
1) All 8 Harry Potter Movies - Just The Spells
Admittedly, this video is basically unwatchable (because of the 17 minute length) unless you are the die hardest of die hard Harry Potter fans. But, it's a good example of the über-supercut. It's so exhaustive that it must have taken weeks to make, it's so long that nobody's likely to watch it all the way through, but by golly it’s there should anyone ever need it!
