18-Year-Old Gets Six Figure Publication Deal

18-Year-Old Gets Six Figure Publication Deal

By Jennifer Grudziecki

Abigail Gibbs, an 18-year-old British college student, is getting her novel published. The Dark Heroine: Dinner With a Vampire is Gibbs' first novel, which she started at age 15 and is now being published by HarperCollins.

She began writing the story on Wattpad, where the first 20 chapters are still available. The book revolves around Violet Lee, a teenage girl who is abducted by a clan of vampires. Gibbs' describes her story as "sexy," complete with not one but two lusty vampires (one of whom is a prince).

And though it's certainly not the most original or well written story in the world, a six-figure publication deal is a major feat for an 18-year-old, and The Dark Heroine seems like an enjoyable guilty-pleasure read...or at least a read that's better than Twilight.

The Dark Heroine comes out September 18. Will you be reading it?
