Our Animals Week celebration continues to go strong. Today we've shown a spotlight on some of the greatest songs featuring animals in the title. Grab your hairbrush, shut the door, and sing along to some of these classics.
Hound Dog by Elvis Presley: An American classic by the King, this tune gets your hips shaking and depending on your singing voice, your dog howling, too.
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor: It's hard not to put your game face on to this song. When you find yourself in the heat of the battle simply crank this up and take 'em down 80's-montage style.
Rockin Robin' by Bobby Day and Jackson 5: Originally sang by Bobby Day, we went with the Jackson 5 version 'cuz hey, who doesn't like seeing the King of Pop as a Prince?
Crocodile Rock by Elton John: We're betting you can't hold yourself back from chiming in during the "La La La's" of this song. Just be sure to not make the same mistake we did by doing it out loud listening to your ear buds at Starbucks.
Octopus's Garden by The Beatles: The Beatles have tons of songs featuring animals, so we just picked some of our favorites, like this snappy tune featuring Ringo on vocals, this charming acoustic number called Blackbird sung by Paul, and of course, this classic, in which John Lennon provided vocals for and took responsibility for being the walrus—Goo Goo Gajoob!
Rock Lobster by B52's: We love the vibe this song puts out. It makes us wanna go-go dance, but strangely enough, with a bib and big dish of butter sauce on the side.
Who Let the Dogs Out by Baha Men: It's getting harder and harder to go to a sporting event without this song playing at some point during the game. We can't lie, though. The Baha Men recorded a song that will forever infect our eardrums and cause us to ask the question that nobody wants the answer to.
I'm Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado: Before she was teaming up with mega-producers and putting out dance tracks, Nelly Furtado graced us with this sweet and catchy pop song. Try singing it in the shower so you can really hit that chorus!
Barracuda by Heart: Chicks rock and Heart is proof of that. There's enough attitude in this song to melt away a bad day. Hit play and try to hold back from strutting.
Ants Marching by DMB: This song goes out to all the hippies and hackey sackers in parking lots. May you burn brightly like a jasmine-scented stick of incense while you stare at the tie-dye shirt in front of you at the Dave concert.
Brass Monkey by Beastie Boys: Brass Monkey is, indeed, a funky monkey. And you can be, too, with this bass-throbbing hit from the Beastie Boys. (Warning: SparkLife is not responsible for the shattering of windows due to high levels of bass nor is it responsible for any Brass Monkey-related neck injuries as a result of endless head-bobbing.)
Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer by Elmo and Patsy: We HAD to include at least one Christmas song about a reindeer for Animals Week. Season's Greetings!
