Apparently, making the final book of a book-to-movie series two movies is the latest Hollywood trend. Why do we say this? The producers of The Hunger Games movies have announced that the final installment, Mockingjay, will be split into two movies. Our question is this: does the book really need two movies? It's not like Mockingjay is a particularly long book, after all. Plus, many fans regard Mockingjay as a let down after the rest of the series. Are fans really going to want to see the story dragged out into two parts?
Still, one of the criticisms of the book was that Collins didn't take enough time to resolve things, so maybe the movie will actually be (dare we say it?) better. And it's hard to get upset about seeing Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Liam Hemsworth for an extra two hours on screen.
So what do you think, Sparklers: is this two-part split awful or awesome?
