New Prometheus Viral Clip

It feels like it was only last week that we got our latest look at Ridley Scott’s new film Prometheus… and it was! So by Prometheus marketing standards we’re waaaaaay overdo. Well don’t fret fellow Masterminds, behold the film’s newest viral clip: “Quiet Eye.”

Like most of the other internet-exclusive material released thus far, this clip doesn’t give away too many plot details so much as it offers a peek into the film’s world and characters—specifically our headstrong protagonist Dr. Elizabeth Shaw played by Noomi Rapace. The video itself is a direct message that Dr. Shaw sends to the powerful Mr. Weyland (using “YUTANI Photo-Polygraph Technologies,” psyched yet fellow Alien geeks?) presumably sometime before the events of the film. Pay attention to the graphics on the bottom, there are some fun easter eggs there (at 1:12 in the graphics refer to Shaw as “Lizbet”—probably a reference to Rapace’s iconic performance as Lizbeth Salander in the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).

Perhaps the most intriguing part of this all is the part of Shaw’s speech beginning at 0:49 wherein she asks “whether or not we’re truly alone.” It seems that in addition to being a super fun science fiction horror thrillride, Prometheus could have weightier things on its mind.

Also of note is that the clip is sponsored by Verizon. The message here presumably being that if you're a doomed scientist making a desperate plea, there's really only one cell phone service right for you!

What do you think of the new Prometheus clip?
