Last-Minute Ideas for Valentine's Day Presents

We don’t want to seem like coupled-up whiners, but what’s worse than being single on VDAY is having to buy your SO a present that shows him how cool you are and how much you like him—without coming across as psycho. You have just a few days to find a gift that says, "I love spending time together, getting a bite, catching a flick, and falling asleep on the couch with you." Not to worry—here are some ideas to steal!

For your girl:

• Get crafty: Girls love handmade, scrapbooking type shiz. So print out a few pictures of you two and get all artsty fartsy. Remember, none of the guys you sit with at lunch have to know you’re a closet romantic sucker. Oh yeah, and if you glue on glitter and macaroni bites like a pre-schooler, even better.
• Bake/cook: Since girls like anything that either tastes or smells good, guys have it pretty easy. Giving her chocolate-covered strawberries and telling her that you actually made them yourself (even if your mom helped you a little bit), will melt her face off in the best way possible.
• Show the love: Does your girl think she’s the next Maya Rudolph? Score tickets to an improv show. Does she love singing when you drive? Take her to a musical. Is she flexible? Because we heard the circus is coming to town. Girls love doing new things with their SO, and you too will enjoy these experiences. Memories last a lifetime.
• Brand her: Nothing says "I really like you" to a girl more than piece of shiny jewelry. It also gives her an excuse to use the word "boyfriend" whenever a friend or stranger compliments her awesome necklace, earrings, or bracelet.

For your guy:

• Don’t be a softy: Even though you think he’s so sweet and soft on the inside, and even if his pet name is "monkey," please do not give him a stuffed animal. It will only sit on some shelf and gather dust. (Have you tried to get dust off of stuffed animal fur? It’s tough!)
• Be useful: Think back. Is there anything your guy has mentioned he actually needs, like a new winter hat or a fresh pair of the sneaks he’s got all scuffed up from skateboarding? If so, you know the size of his head and his shoes, so re-up him on practical stuff. He’ll love you for it.
• Remind him you’re valuable: A great V-Day gift is nice leather wallet to subtly remind your SO that he needs to cough up the dough and take you out on a real date once in a while (you should take him out, too—suffrage happened for a reason!).
• Bro down. If you're dating a jock, remind him that you’re on the same team and score tickets to a professional sporting event. He’ll think you’re the best guy—er, girlfriend—in town.
