How to Land a Geeky Boyfriend in 5 Easy Steps

It is an uncontested fact that Geeky Boys are the most amazing, handsome, adorable, and wonderful boys on the face of the Earth. (Note: this fact may or may not be based on the fact that the writer is dating a Geek.) Well, with all those great adjectives chalked up to their favor, it's no wonder you're trying to figure how you can get yourself a Geek Boy of your own. Never fear, Sparklers! I'm here to tell you how...Step 1: Choose/Analyze Your Target

Right now, you should have a target Geek Boy in mind. Picture him. Go on, do it. Yes, we agree, he does look hot in those thick-framed glasses. Now, try to figure out what kind of geek your Geek Boy is. What sorts of things is he interested in? Is he a Sci-Fi Geek, lover of all things Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, etc? Is he a Fantasy Geek, obsessed with Lord of the Rings (rightly so), Narnia, the Wheel of Time, and anything else dealing with elves and dwarves? Is he a SuperHero Geek, with a complete knowledge of every super hero ever named? A Video Game Geek, focused on MMORPGs and his Xbox 360? Or is your future bespectacled lover an All-Around Geek, with middling-level knowledge and interest in all of the above? This is important information that you need to know NOW!

Step 2: Learn the Lingo

Once you've identified your target Geek Boy's type of Geekdom, you need to delve into his areas of interest. Watch all the Star Wars movies and read some fan fiction. Develop an opinion on Jango versus Bobba Fett. Learn the ins and outs of World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons, and be prepared to debate whether Batman really is better than Superman on a moment's notice. It's time to man up; you're in Geek Training now. (This will require extreme devotion and a large collection of comic books.)

Step 3: Join the Squad

No, we're not talking about Best Buy. If your Geek Boy is a true Geek, he should be a part of a faithful following of Geekdom. Track down his personal Geek Squad and learn their schedules. When do they meet? Do they discuss elves versus dwarves at lunch? Do they gather on Saturday nights to play Runescape together? Find out, and join the pack. If you've correctly developed your knowledge as per Step 2, it should be no problem to convince them to let you in.

Step 4: Challenge His Views

Believe me, there is nothing your Geek Boy will find sexier or more attractive than a girl who debates his most dearly held beliefs. So, find out which Geek Thing your Boy is most devoted to. Then, research that thing, find its fatal flaw, and develop and opposite opinion. If your Geek Boy loves dragons and will do anything to convince anyone that Smaug is the coolest dragon out there, it's time to choose YOUR favorite dragon and have heated debates about why you're right.

Step 5: Then Agree with Him

After a long while of disagreeing—this should include at least 3 heated debates and 2 minor discussions—it's time for you to go for the kill move: agree with your Geek Boy. Once you stroke his ego by finally giving in to his "superior argument," your Geek Boy should be both totally impressed with your knowledge of dragons and confident enough in himself to ask you out. Oh, and it helps if you throw in a compliment or two and some physical contact (like a hand on the shoulder) during your acquiescence.
