Unless you live under a rock with no internet access, you've heard of the Teens for Jeans campaign by now. But for those of you who've been trapped under that ugly boulder, we'll recap: Teens for Jeans is a campaign by dosomething.org where lovely teens like yourselves donate your used (used, not destroyed) jeans to your nearest Aeropostale outlet, who will give those jeans to homeless teenagers.
Sounds cool, right? And easy? And like a great way to help some people out? It is. But in case you need more convincing than that, here's a list of reasons why YOU should donate your jeans RIGHT NOW:
- There are a lot of homeless teenagers out there who could really use your help. And your pants.
- Your school could win $5,000! (Do the math—that's a helluva lot of free pizza parties.)
- Do you REALLY want all those homeless teenagers to walk around pants-less? No. Not a pretty sight.
- You have, like 8 billion pairs of jeans in your closet anyway. It's not like you're going to miss a pair or two.
- Admit it, your mom bought half of those jeans, and they look a bit like Grannie Pants. What better way to avoid wearing them than saying you donated them to charity? No one will object to that.
- Come on, DEMI LOVATO is telling you to. And there is a chance that if you do what Demi Lovato wants, she will make you Vice President of Earth when she takes over in 2017. (Yes, that is really happening.)
- Lets be honest: you know that pair of jeans you keep thinking will fit you again someday? That pair you've saved since the end of sixth grade, when you suddenly grew two inches and gained fifteen pounds? Well, they're not going to fit you again. And that's okay! Because they could fit someone else!
- You wanted to update your wardrobe anyway, right? What better way to convince your parents to take you shopping than donating your jeans to a good cause?
- If you don't, it's quite probable that the denim-hungry gremlins that hunt old jeans will burrow into your room and steal them anyway. And then you'd have no jeans AND a huge hole in the floor to clean up.
- Look, Sparklebutts, you look great, but those jeans you're wearing? They just don't flatter your knees. So give away and buy some new jeans that do!
- You will make us very, very proud if you do.
- You can send us your stories at contribute@sparknotes.com, and we'll post them here on SparkLife! Then the whole WORLD would be proud of you, and it's always nice to have positive affirmation like that.
- Your stories will inspire other people to do the same, which means eventually there would be this huge circle of jean-donated, fully-clothed teenagers!
- Besides, you're a hipster, and denim is much too mainstream for a hipster. Git rid of your jeans and wear only corduroy pants for the rest of forever; it's much more meaningful.
- It's quite possible (we think) that if we donate our jeans and you donate yours, someday, somewhere, in some basement where they store donated jeans before they're given away, our jeans would be touching. Maybe. Inception!
- When you go to Aeropostale to donate your jeans, an extraordinarily good-looking person of the opposite sex will be standing in front of you. And, he/she will be so impressed by your generous spirit, they will ask you out AND start a fan club in your name immediately. Guaranteed.
- If you don't, you'll probably be on a bus sometime when suddenly, out of the blue pops a whole word of pants-less teenagers. The bus driver will be so distracted, he'll crash, causing at least 25 small children to be immediately hospitalized. You don't want that, do you? No. So go donate your jeans.
- You can organize a whole mission of jean-donating-ness at your school. Then, when you're applying to college, you can wax poetic about how many amazing things you learned while cleaning out closets with your entire student body. The college will be so impressed, they'll accept you immediately AND give you a full scholarship. And a pony.
- You wanted to go shopping at Aero anyway, right? Why not drop of your old pants while you're there?!
- Seriously, this is just too easy NOT to do.
