5 Bands that Make It Feel Like Summer All Year Long

Metalhead865's got a musical pick-me-up for all your Sparklers who miss the summertime!—Sparkitors

Tired of being cold? Tired of it getting dark early? Miss those days when all you had to do was drive down to the beach, lie in the warm sun, and stare at that hottie working the lifeguard station?

Well, Metalhead865 is here to save the day. Here are five artists that will bring you back to that sweet smell of sunscreen and barbecues.

The Almost: I know I've already covered this band, but hey, they definitely have that summertime vibe. Actually, Aaron Gillespie and the boys have a ton of different styles. They'd be perfect for almost any time of the year, but a few of their rock n' roll songs are just begging to be played at the beach while watching little kids build sand castles. And then running over and kicking them to pieces. (Just kidding, just kidding, don't kill me. Please.) Highlights: Say This Sooner, Hands, Summer Summer, Souls On Ten

Capital Lights: This short-lived pop punk act really had skills. Besides their clever lyrics and Bryson Phillips's super-poppy voice, the entire band just had this chill beach-party feel. Sadly, they broke up last year, letting down thousands of teenagers across the nation. Thankfully, they still have one album out —This Is An Outrage! —and it's definitely worth listening to if you miss hanging out on the beach. Highlights: Outrage, Out Of Control, Work It Out, The Night Of Your Life is When You'll Die

FM Static: Even before April 2011, FM Static—the pop punk side project of hard rock band Thousand Foot Krutch—was pretty good for keepin' the summer love alive. Then My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go! came out, and it was and is the perfect combination of beach party anthems and nighttime chill sessions. The first half of the album is perfect for games of volleyball and Frisbee on the beach, and the second just begs to be played while walking the beach at night with your boy/girlfriend. Highlights: Boy Meets Girl, My Brain Says Stop..., I Want It, Cinnamon and Lipstick

Swimming With Dolphins: If you know Owl City, you know clever electropop chill songs. I would have put him on this list, but EVERYONE knows how perfect he is for every occasion. Thankfully, Owl City's former member and friend Austin Tofte is the man behind an Owl City side project gone solo, Swimming With Dolphins. SWD's lyrics are a bit more straightforward and his music is a bit more danceable, and there's just that waves-crashing-on-the-beach-while-you-party-with-your-friends vibe to the whole thing. Plus it even works at raves. SWD is a band you can rage to any time. Highlights: Holiday, Watercolors, Jacques Cousteau, Good Times (feat. Mod Sun)

The Rocket Summer: Well, come on. They have the word summer in their NAME. TRS is the brainchild of one Bryce Avery, a guy who really knows how to have a good time. Ever since '07's release Do You Feel, Bryce has basically EXPLODED onto the Vans Warped Tour, rocking audiences with his slick piano and guitar skills, backed by a skilled live band. But the most amazing thing about The Rocket Summer is that, when in the studio, Bryce plays all his instruments—even the saxophone on So Much Love, I'm told. And did I mention that he's really, really good? The female Sparklers in particular would probably love this guy. Highlights: Break It Out, So Much Love, Brat Pack, You Gotta Believe

Put any of these songs on, and I guarantee you, you won't be missing summer at all.
