kim1412, you took the words right out of our mouths. Unfortunately, you also took the doughnuts. We'd really like those back.—Sparkitors
Hi! It’s me, your favorite newbie Sparkler, kim1412! Most of you have read newyorksmabbie’s message to all the world, and last I checked, 57 of you liked it. One of Mabbie's points was that she wants to see more intelligent, thoughtful posts on SparkLife, and while I may be new to this site, I understand her feelings. So how do we make it better? How can we make it through? What can we do when there’s nothing we can do?
AHA! That’s where you people made your mistake. We can do something: we can send in articles that we want to read, that we want to share. I, for one, am going to. We can all make a difference, because it’s not enough to talk about it change; we have to create it. We must walk the walk, you and I. Do or die. Just kidding. Maybe.
So here are some steps that YOU can take to make SparkLife a place you can't get enough of:
1. Send in articles! Instead of saying you're sick of the same old stuff, send in something new, exciting, and thought-provoking! It's easy; just read this submission guide, and then submit ideas and potential posts right here!
2. Write constructive comments. Negativity just leads us in giant, negative circles, until those circles become sinkholes of despair. It's great to debate important issues, as long as you do it calmly, respectfully, and with an open mind. Controversial topics aren't the enemy; shedding light on them gives us a chance to hear new opinions and learn from the unique perspectives of others! Also, don't forget to give thoughtful, eloquent comments their due with a thumbs up!
3. Bring back the BAM. Bamming is a tradition. I don’t want it to dry out and be eaten like prunes by old men, for the lack of a better example.
4. Celebrities are fine, but we need more celebral-ity. OK, I admit, the pun IS pretty lame. It sounded way better in my mind. The point is, not everybody loves to read about Darren Criss and Emma Watson, but some people do! If you don't want to get hilarious updates on Joseph Gordon Levitt, then don't click on celeb posts. And if you want to see more book blogs and marching band columns, then it's up to you to submit them!
5. What, you actually expected a step 5? Do you REALLY expect me to do ALL the work? Get real, and get typing on those articles already. PEACE!
We think kim pretty much nailed it! What are your ideas for making SparkLife a site that everyone will love?
