The Best Halloween Costumes We've Ever Seen

By SparkLife

We asked the Sploggers to tell us about the most amazing costumes they've seen. Most of them marked our email "spam," but some of them wrote back, and here's what they said! —Sparkitors

Rachel Korowitz: The best Halloween costume I ever saw was a group of eight dressed as The Royal Tenenbaums. Amazing.

Lauren Passell: One of the best Halloween costumes I ever saw was a group dressed up like people from those old timey photos. They were wearing old-fashioned clothes, but were covered in white powder or something, so they looked exactly like a black and white photo. And none of them were smiling. Even when I tickled them! (I didn't really tickle them.)

Emma Chastain: Tiny King Kong trick-or-treating with her older brother, who was dressed as the Empire State Building.

Melissa Albert: NosferaTupac. So, a bandanna-ed rapper, but with vampire makeup and Nosferatu fangs, and THUG LEBEN written across his stomach. The year before he was a sexy burrito, so he's pretty much the king of amazing costumes.

Kat Rosenfield: The best Halloween costume I ever saw was just after the big NYC Halloween Parade in 2005. The parade itself had just ended and everyone was getting on the subway to go back into Greenwich Village. Needless to say, the train was packed front-to-back with people in costumes, and right next to me—in between a pirate, a zombie Elvis, and a dude in a banana suit—was a very dapper gentleman who was dressed as a Hasidic Jew. And it was just flawless. He had everything perfect, all the way down to the full beard and the little side-curls.

Incidentally, this is where this goes from being a "Best Costume I Ever Saw" story to a "Best Time I Ever Embarrassed Myself To Death" story, because when I turned to this fellow and told him that I really, really liked his Halloween costume, it turned out that he was not actually wearing one.
