We're pretty sure Athenade36 has one sarcasm hand raised, and one firmly planted on a chicken sandwich. —Sparkitors
I'm a senior in a small school, which makes me a Complete and Total Expert in all things small-school related. Personally, I love it. And all of you should too. Here's why:
7. You always know what’s for lunch…At my school, it's CHICKEN! Everyday. Every week. All month. All year. I’m talking about chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, chicken patties, chicken fries, grilled chicken, baked chicken, frozen chicken. Even if there was Atomic Warfare, we would still eat chicken. Which is good... if you love chicken.
6. Sports are awesome. If you want to join Varsity Basketball, you can. There is zero possibility of being cut, kicked out, or dragged away. You can join! You want to join the Varsity Fencing Team? Sure...oh wait, that’s not offered. Did I mention this is a small school with a limited budget? But you CAN join the two-person cross country team! They’re established, AND there is room!
5. There is no reason to worry about what you will do Friday night. The whole school has plans. FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!! That’s it. From 7:30 to 10:00 you have plans. Four quarters of all-American football. Now whether or not you go to Huddle House afterwards, that is up to you. But who doesn’t like breakfast for dinner?
4. Worried about getting enough A.P. credits? No sweat. You only have one option: A.P. English! When you’re a junior. Want some A.P. classes as a senior? Sorry, these services are not provided at this location.
3. You know everyone. You cannot walk through the hall without knowing every person you see…and their mom, and their dad, and their brothers, sisters, cousins, grandma, papaw, aunts and uncles. It is impossible to spot someone and NOT have a Chuck moment.
2. No one forgets anything. You could walk up to someone you haven’t seen since third grade, and they will know you! Lunch conversations are mainly composed of reminiscences about 7th grade, now that you all are seniors. Remember that time you walked out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to your shoe? Yeah, so does everyone else. Remember that time you talked to your best friend's crush? So does she, and there will be heck to pay… even if it’s three years later.
1. No matter who you have a crush on, so will three other girls (or guys). One of the three will most likely be your best friend and the other two will be cheerleaders. For those of us who are the quiet type, this means stiff competition. But there is hope. America enables the people to rise up! Like dust, I rise (Angelou)?
Despite all the bad stuff, does anyone love going to a small school?
