Look, there's a lot we don't know about Shakespeare. His birthday, for example. His cause of death. And the beard—real or synthetic? Amid these unsettling mysteries, one thing has widely been agreed upon: The Shakes was a genius.
But is it possible that only thing Shakespeare ever wrote was a letter to the local Bubonic Plague department suggesting they quarantine his wife? Was his entire career a midsummer night's scheme? Was Shakespeare a fraud?
Tonight, the debate is on.
To kick off the theater release of the new movie ANONYMOUS, director Roland Emmerich, writer/producer John Orloff, and historian/writer Charles Beauclerk will take on UC Berkeley’s Professor Alan H. Nelson in a live webcast debate over who REALLY wrote the complete works of the most famous bearded bard in history.
Now you sparkling scholarbutts can watch a live stream of this debate HERE, TONIGHT, RIGHT BELOW THIS VERY PARAGRAPH, from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. PST. (That's 10:15 Central and 11:15 for you East coasters. Here's a world clock for everyone else.) Once the debate has begun, let us know who YOU believe in the comments.
