The Peaks and Pits of Thick Hair

I join the conga line of the hair debate! Following my family's genetic trend, I possess a mane of gloriously wonderful and unmanageable, unruly, thick, thick hair. I meet all of the qualifications that I decided were necessary to be an Official Professional Person to Talk About Thick Hair, so I'm here to share my unmatchable wisdom with you all:

Cons

  1. Combing thick hair is the worst job ever. There’s at least a 100% chance that there’s a knot in your hair at any given time, and since it’s buried underneath another layer of messy, messy hair, it’s harder to find than a porcupine in a room full of porcupine-shaped pincushions. Not to mention the incredible pain that is the five seconds when you pull your hair apart to untangle said knot.
  2. Shampoo and conditioner get stuck in your hair. It’s even more of a hassle to wash thick hair than it is to comb it. I have to make sure each layer is cleaned of sweat and dirt. Then after shampooing it, I have to make sure that all of the layers don’t have a trace of the shampoo. If that doesn’t happen, then you will get into a real fine mess at the hairdressers!
  3. The weight is unbearable. As beautiful as thick hair is, I can’t let mine down all the time because it is way too heavy to carry in the summer sun. Not to mention hot.
  4. It’s harder to hold your hair up because clips and pins can’t support it, ballerina bun nets can’t capture all of it, hair-ties get worn out faster, and don’t even talk think about putting chopsticks in it!

Pros

  1. We have less noticeable bald spots. No wigs or toupees for us!
  2. Likewise, we can also donate our hair to cancer patients and still retain a lovely bundle of hair.
  3. Thick hair isn’t as likely to go haywire in the wind and blow around messing up a ‘do because of the weight it carries.
  4. It looks lush, soft and flattering whether or not you carry a kind smile or a sarcastic remark.
  5. It just looks bloody gorgeous. Come on, it's way better looking than stringy thin hair!
  6. It has lots of volume. No boring, flat hair for thick hair—and we definitely don't need bump-its to give us a lift!

Is thick hair as good as it sounds?
