Unless you're so deep in back-to-school hell that you're sweating ink, BeeHappy94's advice will brighten your day. –Sparkitors
So long as you don't live under a rock located in the deepest part of the ocean, right now you're being accosted by commercials claiming that right now is the "most wonderful time of the year!" No, not Christmas: back to school time! You may scream and run every time you hear it, but the denial period has come to an end: school's back, and you'll be swamped with tests, homework, and hours of studying faster than you can scream “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!” So the question is, how can you make all the hype true? How you can you make the beginning of school the most wonderful time of the year? Here are some suggestions:
Go to school with a positive attitude! If you walk through those doors thinking, knowing, and believing that the year will suck, then it will. If, however, you're sure it will be the BEST YEAR EVER, you will be terribly disappointed. Just expect to survive, and you probably will!
Do NOT end your social life! Just because you've started school doesn't mean your social life should become extinct. If anything, the start of a new school year is your best excuse to get out of the TV rut and back to living! As in, talking to other people.
Get a study buddy. It's useful to make friends with the people in your classes—you don't have to be best friends, just friendly enough to compare notes, complete a group project, and gossip before the bell.
Get a crush. Nothing makes time fly like having someone to stare at longingly. There will be no better reason to look forward to fourth period every day—start scoping the possibilities!
Pace yourself. Deadlines always arrive quicker then expected, so if you get a major project on September 10, due December 10, you will be sad if you start working on it December 9. Getting a head start gives you the chance to ask questions, do your research, and create the best possible project in the history of projects.
Set Goals. Even if it sounds cheesy, it honestly works. Possible goals: getting published in your school paper, or learning how not to be the world's second biggest procrastinator (I am the first).
Enjoy Yourself! Elementary school and high school only happen once. No matter how hard you try, you can't go back in time—unless, of course, you are Hermione, in which case HI, HERMIONE! So have fun and be young: failing one tenth-grade math test isn't the end of the world!
How do you plan on making this the school year to end all school years?
