The Pros and Cons of Curly Hair

Arty’sGirl joins the great hair debate with a post on curly hair, which we LOVE. —Sparkitors

For years I had straight hair (we’re not talking “mostly straight”—it was so straight it looked permanently hot ironed). And then I hit puberty. Well, it urns out hormones do more then make you emotionally unstable. Now my hair is so curly the only way I can keep it from turning into a cloud is by dousing it with lots and lots of “product.”

So while we are discussing the pros and cons of hair color, I thought I’d add my two cents. (After all, curly hair is the paramount of awesome and totally deserves its own category.)

Cons:

1. The questions. For one reason or another, people feel the need to ask the most ridiculous questions: “Is that natural?," “Did you get a perm?,” “Woah!  Did you just get struck by lightning?”

“Yes, it is natural, no, I did not get a perm, and shut up.”

2. Care. Curly hair is a heck of a lot of work! The ends are always dry, the roots are always oily, and it is prone to breaking. Plus you can’t brush it.  Ever. If curls were vampires, brushes would be garlic-infused sunlight.

3. People want to play with it, which causes monster frizz. Friends are the worst about trying to touch my hair. They will simply walk up grab a curl, pull it out, and let go just to see it rebound.

4. Haircuts. Quick! I dare you. Do an online search for curly haircuts. Do you know what you’ll find? Curling iron enhanced, wavy hair. There is really only one haircut available for truly curly hair (in three lengths and with a choice of bangs or no bangs! Yay!)

Pros:

1. Curly hair is one of the most beautiful things that can sit on top a cranium. It is lush, bouncy, and simply gorgeous! (And I wouldn’t trade it for boring straight hair any day!)

2. Curly hair is full of lovely body. I never have to worry about flat hair. In fact, I have more than enough to go around. Want to borrow some?

3. Formal looks are easy with natural curls. I simply pull it up, let a few choice curls hang loose, and with minimal effort a stunning 'do has been created.

4. Honestly, curls are just sexier.

5. On good hair days the compliments just flow in, and that is always a pro.

Do you think curly hair is sexier than straight hair?!
