Talie's getting ready to leave for college... but not without one more awkward conversation! —Sparkitors
College... COLLEGE. It's big, scary, and super-AMAZINGLY awesome. Well, that's what I've heard, anyway.
Even though the rest of the world has left for college already, including all of my friends and Mr. Hand-Holder (whom I will tell you about later... GAHH), Talie remains at home, doing absolutely nothing. NOTHING. Unless you count watching Phineas and Ferb and dreaming my imaginary life away with Darren Criss.
You know you need a life when you're under the assumption that Darren Criss is the only guy for you.
The unfortunate thing about the college I'm attending is that the semester starts in September, and my manager took me off of the work schedule because she assumed that I would already be at college. I haven't bothered to tell her otherwise, and I REALLY hope I don't run into her at Target or something...
So if I had to describe my life right now in one word? BORINGGG.
Anyway, let me tell you about Mr. Hand Holder, the guy who wanted to be with me one minute and then got a girlfriend the next. He and his girlfriend are TOTES still together, but—despite his taken status—he still decided that he wanted to do something with me before he left. Why he would want to hang out with the girl he professed his love for a month and a half ago (who politely turned him down), I have no idea. About a week ago I received a text from Mr. Hand-Holder asking if I want to do something with him before he bounced off to college. And even though I wondered why he would want to hang out with me, and even though my friends begged me to tell him I was to busy or whatever, I still said yes.
Gah gah gah. I'm still bludgeoning myself for that one.
I texted him asking him what time he wanted to hang out on Saturday. But guess what?
I never heard back from him... SCORE!!!
Unfortunately, I still had the books he loaned me (which I never read... awkward...), and I needed to give them back before he left for college, which meant I had to awkwardly text him if he wanted me to go over to his house and drop them off. Luckily, he was already near my neighborhood so he just came over. This is how the conversation went down:
*Ding-dong*
Me: *opens the door* Hey.
Mr. HH: Hey
Me: Here are your books.
Mr. HH: Thanks.
Me: (being polite) You wanna come in?
My mom: HEY MR. HAND HOLDER, DO YOU WANT TO COME IN?
Me: *why mom? WHYY?*
Mr. HH: I actually have to pack.
Me: Okay, bye.
Mr. HH: Bye, have fun in college.
Me: You too.
*Door closes*
The conversation lasted about 3 minutes... of extreme awkwardness. Which, in my personal opinion, is also a good summary of our short-lived friendship. Let me break it down for you:
1) Mr. Hand Holder claims he likes my friend.
2) He asks her out to go swing dancing, she accepts and they both beg me to come with them.
3) So I do, and it's REALLY AWKWARD.
4) Mr. Hand Holder and his friend and I hang out some more.
5) Mr. Hand Holder proclaims his love and tells me he wants me to meet his parents.
6) He asks me what the possibility is of us getting together... and I awkwardly tell him, as I have many times before, that I didn't want to be in a relationship.
7) We stop talking altogether.
Anyone see the reoccurring word here? Awkward. So so so so so so so so AWKWARD.
Luckily, I'm leaving for college in TEN DAYS and I can put all of this stuff behind me. So I, being the freak I am, made a list of the stuff I'm going to do at college. Here we go:
1) Find some people who share my extreme affinity for Harry Potter and form a mini Hogwarts, complete with houses.
2) Also, assemble my own Dumbledore's Army.
3) Light saber fight? I think YES.
4) Shoot an epic pirates vs. ninjas movie.
5) PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR.
6) Yeah, I was just kidding about number 5. That's never gonna happen.
7) Get my first kiss. Because that has yet to have happened. Okay, I'm embarrassed for putting that one up there. Sigh...
8) Have a magically spontaneous musical number, complete with huge ensemble dance number.
That's all I got. And looking back on it, it's really, really lame. So, uh, does anyone else have any super-awesome suggestions? Please help me un-lame-ify my list...
I obviously need all the help I can get.
Talie :)
