It's Summertime And the Girls Are Hard to Find

I'm one of those guys who both loves and hates summer. Quick rundown of the reasons why:

PROS: Freedom from school, homework, et cetera.

CONS: It's not so easy to meet new people when the people you know don't want to DO anything.

Every summer, I'm basically stuck sitting around the house on the computer. NOT a good way to meet people, and I don't get a lot of opportunities to. I'm not really an active person, unfortunately, and biking around town doesn't really help you meet people (except when your chain comes off at 20 mph...that's another story.). This whole tangent probably sounds a little irrelevant, but the whole relationship thing boils down to meeting people, and I don't get in a lot of those situations.

One major exception: Camp Electric. I went for the first time last year and it was one of the most amazing things that ever happened to me. Not only did I get to meet some of my favorite bands (one of which I've written a Hit List about —shout-out to Family Force 5!) and play guitar on stage with TobyMac, but I made a ton of new friends, thanks to the all-purpose conversation starter "Where're you from?" (People come from all over the US!). And yes, many of those friends were girls. Sadly, when I got back home, I went back to keeping to myself and being bored.

Thankfully, 18 days, 7 hours, and 30 minutes from the time I'm writing this, I'm going back to camp, and hopefully, this year is going to be even BETTER. Another Hit List band's gonna be there (Thousand Foot Krutch!) and there will be new people to hang out with.

I'm hoping to make some friends, have a great time, and maybe even start up a relationship. Once again, wish me luck, fellow Sparklers, at putting myself out there and making this Camp Electric year even better than the last.
