Lonks takes on a childhood classic!—Sparkitors
Book #41: The Little Prince
Author (and Illustrator): Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Reason for Reading: This is my best friend’s favorite childhood book, and she was completely appalled when I told her that I had never read it. She lent it to me the next day.
Quote: "All men have stars, but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems... But all these stars are silent. You—you alone will have stars as no one else has them... In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars will be laughing when you look at the sky at night. You, only you, will have stars that can laugh!

Rating (out of 10 stars): 7 stars
Summary: The little prince lived alone on a tiny planet no larger than a house. He owned three volcanoes, two active and one extinct. He also owned a flower, unlike any flower in the galaxy, of great beauty and of inordinate pride. It was this pride that ruined the serenity of the little prince’s world and started him on the interplanetary travels that brought him to Earth, where he learned, finally, from a fox, the secret of what is really important in life.
Review: I really hope that a lot of you had the pleasure of enjoying this book as a child. It’s one of those perfectly amazing stories that can teach both children and adults. The pure simplicity of it, from the language to the little sketches of illustrations to the interesting characters the little prince meets along his journey, is absolutely beautiful work.
Recommendation: Read it. It’ll probably only take you an hour or so, and it is a story to be appreciated by all generations.
Lonks' bestie would be appalled by us, too—we STILL haven't read this, and we are OLD. Have you read The Little Prince?
