My Crush Is... an Internet Celebrity

By Contributor

Our favorites on this list are Dan Bergstein and Jon Skindzier. lleya, we promise we're not baised AT ALL. —Sparkitors

There's been a lot of My Crush Is... posts (more than 50 pages worth!), but somehow, now one has yet written a post on minor Internet celebrities. I mean sure, we've had countless posts about movie stars, singers, and even one about YouTube stars, but why limit ourselves to YouTube? There's awesome people all over the net, some of which are only recognized on a handful of websites, or in small communities.

One of the great things about these guys is that they're not awesome because they appear to be genetically engineered to look like Leonardo DiCaprio mixedwith Taylor Lautner, they're awesome because of their ideas, humor, writing or whatever else. Also, I'm by no means claiming to know every corner of the web, but these are some of the more awesome, swoon-worthy people I've come across.

James Portnow. He's the main writer for Extra Credits (along with Daniel Floyd and Allison Theus), and if you've seen the series, then you can probably guess why I'm completely in love with his mind. He's so full of great ideas, both about video games, and about how certain aspects of games can be applied to other things like education. Extra Credits makes me think, and I love that. Knowing he's behind it just makes me wish I could steal his brain, have his children, and meet him (not necessarily in that order).

Martin Billany (AKA LittleKuriboh). Ever heard of the anime Yu-Gi-Oh? Most of you probably have. What most of you probably haven't heard of is Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series, a series of hilarious videos that parody it. LittleKuriboh is behind these videos, and, not only does he have about 1000 different voices, he is also a comedy genius, and one of the few people who can claim that they launched a whole genre (and not be lying). Not only is he funny, but he's also sensitive in a way that makes me want to hug him a lot. What's better than a sensitive guy who can make you laugh? (The answer, by the way, is unicorns.)

Dan O'Brien (or DOB). Regular columnist at Cracked and a damn good actor, Dan is just further proof that if you name your kid Dan (or Daniel, but people have to call him Dan), he's 100% more likely to be awesome. He's ridiculously funny and, unlike some articles at Cracked, what he writes tends to have a point. While he may not be conventionally attractive, there's undeniably something cute about him. Just look at him!

Linkara. Probably one of the most famous internet people on this list, he's known for Atop The Fourth Wall, where bad comics burn. Though I've only recently started watching his videos and reading his blogs, I'm already hooked. He always makes me laugh, which, you can probably tell by now, is one of the things I love most in guys (actually, in people in general). He usually does crossovers with other Channel Awesome contributors, which are always, well, awesome. He's also what Perry the Platypus would probably look like if he were human.

Yahtzee Croshaw. Yahtzee might be one of the more peculiar entries on this list, considering he hates people. (But, consider how many people like Doctor House, crushing on a misanthrope isn't that foreign of a concept.) His video game reviews, Zero Punctuation, are always hilarious, if vulgar, and his column, Extra Punctuation, is very insightful. Not to mention that he has a British accent, which only helps fuel my crush. If I ever met him, my first reflex would be to hug him, because he probably does not like hugs.

Jono Skindzier. I'm sure most of you know who this is! His advice columns, the articles he writes, and the pictures that accompany them never fail to make me laugh. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just read a few of his articles (and maybe watch an episode of YGO Abridged), and pretty much instantly forget why I was upset, because I'm too busy trying not to die laughing. Yes, I know I've mentioned how most of these people make me laugh, but his advice columns are very helpful as well as hilarious, and he's one of the few people whose work I actively seek to cheer myself up.

Dan Bergstein. I don't think I even need to type this one.
