Sierra's goal is to lose 30 pounds by prom. Can she do it? Well, she's off to a good start! —Sparkitors
Sierra here! Before I start talking about my progress, I'd like to address a few things in the comments.
First, THANK YOU for all the encouragement and tips. You guys are so great! Second, a lot of people were saying how 30 pounds in a few months seems like a lot, but I actually started this close to the beginning of the year, about a month before the post was up. So it's not quite as extreme as it sounds. Also, I have talked to my doctor about this—the last time I went to see him, we talked about my BMI and about making healthy choices—and I promise I won't get too focused on the numbers. Even if I don't make my goal (although I'm going to try my darndest), I'll still look and feel better. In fact, I feel better already!
Currently, I'm super jazzed because in the last nine days, I've worked out seven of them. (I skipped a day because I was feeling under the weather, and skipped another because I had a ton of stuff going on after school.) And you know what? I feel great! I'm more sore than I've ever been, but I also feel stronger. I have to give a lot of credit to 24 hour fitness, though—who knew that they had individual TVs on the elliptical machines? I definitely didn't! It makes it way easier to exercise when I can just plug in my headphones and zone out to an episode of Royal Pains or Glee.
Another awesome thing at 24 Hour is ZUMBA! I think I am in love with this class. It's like salsa/hip hop/the sweaty part of a school dance all condensed into one hour, and it is exhausting!
In terms of food, aside from a couple slip-ups, I think I've done pretty well so far. By a couple of slip-ups, I mean that I went out to dinner with my dad, and he treated me to some delicious Italian food. How could I say no? Also, my friends randomly decided to stop by my house and bring me a Disney princess cupcake (yes, my friends are really cool), and I would have felt really bad if I didn't eat it. Tonight, I ate a few cookies, but today I also did my most intense workout yet, which hopefully will balance it out. The good news is, I've been eating a TON of fruit and drinking enough water to seriously accelerate my pee schedule. Since I'm in choir at school (and the school musical!) that gives me even MORE motivation to drink that H20.
I can't wait to try some of the suggestions I got in the comments, namely, jump rope and yoga! (Thanks synchrogirl117 and CatOfManyWhiskers.) Jump rope sounds like something I could get seriously addicted to, and my mom takes yoga, so maybe I'll tag along with her sometime.
What with all my time and energy going toward being healthy, sometimes I forget about my ultimate motivator—PROM! But lately I've taken to scouring the interwebz for prom dresses when I get bored, and I've found some that I'm super excited about. Here's one that I LOVE:
And this one! Can you tell I'm a sucker for anything blue, strapless, and sparkly?
Or even...dare I say...this one?
I don't know why, but something is telling me that the last dress is THE ONE. I'm not sure though. It's more revealing than I'm used to, so hopefully that'll motivate me to work extra extra hard to look good in it. It's also not a long, complicated princess-y dress like the one I wore last year, so I'll be able to have fun dancing without worrying about stepping on my skirt. Yay!
In other news, I have revised and refined my selections of music before coming up with the perfect workout playlist, which I shall now share:
Cardio (elliptical and treadmill songs):
"The Adventure" by Angels and Airwaves (or anything by them, really)
"Chemicals React" by Aly & Aj (not my usual listening choice - but it gets me moving!)
"Falling for the First Time" by Barenaked Ladies
"Wonderful" by Gary Go
"The First Single" by The Format
"Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire (the original, not the Pussycat Doll Version!)
"Flight of The Order of the Phoenix" by Harry Potter Soundtrack (So I'm a nerd, sue me.)
ANYTHING by Taylor Swift. Except the sad songs.
Weights/Cooldown/etc:
"Starting Now" by Ingrid Michaelson
"Remembering Sunday" by All Time Low
"Smile" by The Jayhawks
"Empty Ships" by Creeper Lagoon
"This Is a Love Song" by Single
I have some other news too, and it involves a potential DATE to prom, but I'll save that for next time.
As Bill and Ted would say, party on, dudes!
Think Sierra should go for a conservative dress, or the revealing one?
