Trekkie-Bookie's Travel Diary: Blogging Greece, the Final Chapter

trekkie-bookie's Grecian adventure comes to an end; we're hoping she brought us back some gelato!—Sparkitors

Why hello there, my dear Sparklers! At the end of my last post, my family and I were in Athens; at the start of this one, we just arrived at a gorgeous new hotel! Our family got its very own cottage; my sisters and I slept in a loft, I made fresh orange juice in the morning, and all the decorative bushes were rosemary! Day 1 was spent hiking in a nearby gorge with my dad; it was hard work, but the view at the end was worth it. I spent Day 2 relaxing, and in the afternoon we had a cooking lesson with the cook, who also happened to be the mother of the hotel owner/operator. To top it all off, we found the most adorable puppy in the world, who we named Nikolaus. We wanted to adopt him, but it turns out he was owned by somebody. Here he is, so you can ooh and ahh over him too:

On Day 3 we drove up to Knossos, one of the most famous places in all of Crete—in all of Greece, actually! Anyone recognize this?

It turns out that entire fresco is a reconstruction and the real thing is much prettier. But Knossos was amazing, especially for a mythology geek like me. We also stopped to check out some 2000-year-old olive trees and ruins just ‘chillin by the side of the road. No big deal. Here’s a picture of me standing in one:

The next day we traveled to Chania, and you’re not going to believe this, but this isn’t  a painting—it’s real!

It’s gorgeous isn’t it? It was amazing—there were no sites to see here, just pure Greece, in all its beauty. We wandered around streets, found an old synagogue and spent two hours there, had the best gelato ever, shopped, and ate. A lot. It was wonderful! Especially my older sister’s last day (she left three days before we did) when we rented a Vespa and cruised around the city!

And here’s my younger sister, my brother, and me on our last day in Greece; laughing and smiling, but so sad to leave. Thanks for coming along with me, even though fitting you in my suitcase meant I couldn’t bring my pillow. I hope you enjoyed the trip as much as I did!
