What It's Like To Live In...Kansas City

We'd come just for the barbeque sauce, Aundrea, but everything else sounds great, too. —Sparkitors

I recently read a post about living in St. Louis, and you know what I thought to myself? I thought, “Psh, St. Louis? HOW ABOUT KANSAS CITY, BABY!” And that's when I decided to blog about my awesome hometown. Here’s what you can expect if you stop by for a visit:

1. People around here live and breathe barbeque. You’ll probably meet someone (or several someones) who even make their own barbeque sauce. The inside scoop? It’s best when it's thick, rich, sweet, and tangy.

2. Our NFL team, the Chiefs, has sucked for so many seasons that college football has taken its place as the reigning obsession.  Don’t even try to get tickets to a Missouri-Kansas game—unless you've got your own personal ninja.

3. There’s a BIG difference between Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. It’s a giant faux pas to visit KCMO and say you’re in Kansas. Over and over. On national television. (I'm looking at you, Simon Cowell.)

4. We have AWESOME public libraries. There are libraries all over KC, and they've got any book, movie, or CD you could ever want.

5. The weather is insane. Just wait an hour and it’ll be different.

6. Downtown KC is amazing! I’d go there all the time if I could, but my parents aren’t exactly thrilled about their 17-year-old driving downtown by herself. Still, there's so much to do; if you visit, you've definitely got to check it out.

Any other KC residents out there?
