lia.lovegood, you have something in common with Auntie SparkNotes: a fervent love for all things Very Potter. —Sparkitors
If you love Harry Potter and haven't been living under a a rock for the past few months, then you've probably seen the masterpiece called A Very Potter Sequel. For those who haven't: what the devil is going on? It's been out for ages and ages! You have to see it, but before you do, watch A Very Potter Musical. Keep in mind that the sequel is better, but there is no present without a past, so it makes sense to start at the beginning. Now, before we get to the good stuff: This post contains major spoilage. If you haven't seen AVPS, don't ruin it for yourself—stop reading immediately. This has been a Public Service Announcement from Stop Living Under A Rock and Go See AVPS. That is all.
Awesome Thing (AT) #1: Hermione Can't Draw: Draco Malfoy is the most popular boy in school, and even Harry Potter likes him. What makes him even greater is his hilarious drawings. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Hermione, who is ugly and disliked. Her self-esteem has hit rock bottom. When her peers discover that she has inadequate artistic skills, they break into an energetic and uber-hilarious rendition of chorus of Hermione Can't Draw. AMAZING.
AT # 2: Lauren Lopez, aka Draco: I know Draco is really a girl, but damn: he is just SO cute. I was actually sitting there thinking “Wow, I think I'm in love” throughout the entire sequel. In AVPS, Draco subtly shows that he's in grave danger of falling in love with Hermione Granger. It's hilarious to see clueless Hermione running around while Ron's face reaches an all-time high on my awesome scale.
AT #3: The Potty: You might have already noticed, but I love Draco. I was a bit worried that he wouldn't be as amazing in the sequel as he was in AVPM, but my fears were unfounded; he's better than ever. First of all, he hates gingers and Mudbloods. Secondly, he HATES Gryffindor house. Third, his parents work for the man who killed Harry's parents. And lastly, he is REALLY nice now! Plus, the potty scene made me crack up so violently that I had to pause the video for about 10 minutes while I pulled myself together.
AT #4: Snape: I have to admit that I cried long and hard during Lucius Malfoy's song There Will Always Be Guys Like Potter. Joe Moses' acting was superb, as always, and I loved the way Snape reacted to the song: his butterbeer drinking scene was just magical, and his decision to help Harry made another round of tears come out of my eyes.
AT #5: Lucius and the Big Revelation
The opening scene made me fall in love with Draco's father. A singing and dancing Death Eater who's handsome to boot—how can anyone resist him? (If you disagree, then you, sir, are a butt trumpet.) And the revelation that Draco is part elf was a twist I was not expecting. At all.
AT #6: Lupin
The wonderful rivalry between Lupin and Sirius over who was truly James's best friend was very funny, and I'm sure everyone giggled at Snape's mocking werewolf comments. “Lupin, wanna go look at the full moon with me? Haha Zombie!” was one of my favorites, and I liked the whole “Who looks stupid now???” theme; it made me snort out loud.
AT #7: Umbridge
Joe Walker. That is all. Just kidding! I have WAYY more to say about Umbridge than that. Firstly: the biceps! OMG, I've never been more attracted to a guy. Joe Walker was phenomenal as Voldemort, but I think he crossed all awesome bounds with Umbridge. His romance with Dumbledore and the “Miss Independent” song were breathtaking. And that reminds me: did you get my text? His performance was artistically drawn to a close when he appeared through the head of the Headmaster Zefron poster. That wraps up my all-too-brief post on AVPS, but I'm sure you guys have lots to say! Voldemort out, b*tches!
Soooooo, what were your favorite parts?
