We like weird lyrics, so we LOVE this post by Dreamadi. —Sparkitors
Have you ever heard a song and wondered why anyone thought to write a song about that topic? And then worshiped the musician who pulled it off? And then choreographed a puppet show to it? And then planned elaborate fantasies where you showed off your mad skills to Danny B., Harry Potter, Edward Scissorhands, Heathcliff, Mr. Darcy, and Severus Snape, who then fight for your hand?
No? Just me then.
Anyway. There are songs out there so strange that they actually may inspire you to do this. And it's obviously my duty to introduce you to them:
1. Vienna Teng—"Passage"
Where else are you going to find a song that starts "I died in a car crash"? Nowhere, that's where.
2. Imogen Heap—"Bad Body Double"
It's a song about weight insecurity, and it's funny! I have never heard another song that pulled this off!
3. Universal Hall Pass—"Katrina Josephina"
This Spanish-sounding song is about one woman's descent into hell. Literally. While hers may not match Dante's exactly, it's fun to listen to Katrina's story.
4. Vienna Teng—"No Gringo"
A tribute to the migrant worker, this song puts Americans in the opposite position; they're the workers trying to get out of the US, while Mexicans rule the world.
5. Eisley—"Invasion"
Eisley, an enjoyable if somewhat self-indulgent group, warns of our intergalatic "friends." Plus the video is epic.
Are you a fan of any of these artists?
