I am extremely angry, distressed, and probably hormonal (I won’t go into that) but for some reason, those feelings are slowly floating away. That is most likely because I am listening to my Harry Potter story tape and letting the voice of Stephen Fry reading the words of J.K. Rowling calm my boiling blood. But what if you do not have a story tape at hand? And what if you are too angry to think of calming things?! Well, never fear,dear Sparklers. Here are 25 things you can do to sooooothe yourself.
1. Harry Potter story tapes (harder to break than the CDs)
2. Herbal tea or hot Ribena
3. Long baths with oils, bath bombs, music (or Harry Potter), bubbles, and room spray. Yes, this is acceptable for boys too…as long as no one knows…..
4. Watch Pride and Prejudice. Just do it. Now.
5. Go to SparkNotes!
6. Write a diary.
7. Talk to a friend/teddy bear.
8. Try to count raindrops on a window.
9. Bake and/or eat various yummy nomnoms, i.e. brownies, cookies, cakes or POPTARTS!!!
10. Meditate
11. If you have Facebook, have a chat with the SparkNotes editors. Seriously, they are VERY wise! But if they are busy, please do not disturb.
12. You might not think it, but do your homework.
13. Stare into your fridge and cupboards, before shutting them and doing nothing. It is quite pointless, but rather satisfying.
14. Curl up by a fire/radiator.
15. Tend to your pets/siblings. (In my case, they are the same thing…)
16. Sunbathe, make snow angels, or stand in the rain, depending on the weather.
17. Make duck beaks with Pringles.
18. Tidy up.
19. Find an empty area and shout. Lots. You will feel tired, empty, yet yet awesome afterward.
20. Make your own perfume.
21. Make jewelry or craftsy things.
22. Listen to your favorite music.
23. Sort and toss unwanted possessions.
24. Come up with a mantra.
25. Go for a jetpack ride.
